There have been many posts about dragonite ore, I’ve done my fair amount of research but I just can’t deal with it any longer.

I’m aware that some people can get it very easier and got plenty from the living story-stuff but in my server, (maguuma) it’s near impossible to get. I have the timers on all the time, but people simply don’t do these events. I try to solo them, call people, join guilds but it’s near useless. I’ve been questing for ascended for about a month. Managed to get the gold, the mats, got 500 weaponsmith, got everything BUT the dragonite. In the whole month I’ve gotten 75 dragonite ore out of 500.

I’ve tried guesting, WvW and don’t tell me to use alts because I can’t even get my fair share on my main.
I mean, I get that the point is to get people to do all content but dragonite is just impossible because it’s the ONLY mat that you can’t get on your “own” and need a zerg-like group in order to get.
Cant’ we have it drop from jumping puzzles? I don’t care if they’re utterly frustrating, dragonite should be able to be acquired by people on their own.

This should be fixed when they extend Megaserver to WB zones. And that is not tomorrow.

For now, I think you can guest on another server to do thoses event, you can have 2 guestings servers at the same time, for 24h. I’m not aware of the population of NA servers, I’m sure other can anwser for that better than me, but you can find one server who do those WB when ou’re playing.

ZoS on Northern Shiverpeaks hosts a Temple run (plus Eye of Zhaitan and Karka Queen) every day right after reset (8:00 EDT). Head down to Cursed Shore and look for the blue dorito. Each main event gives up to 30 Dragonite, so potentially you can get 210 for about two hours effort.

Lately they’ve been following it with a tour of the other world bosses, so you can get your empyrean frags too.

Go eotm, wait for a commander courageous enough to take a keep, problem solved. 30 dragonite per keep.

The ops point is that Dragonite is a ‘Teamwork’ reward and cannot be ‘farmed’ without the help of others. I am guessing this is on purpose to force group participation.

I get a fair bit of Dragonite by doing the Karka Queen event daily and joining in the EotM karma trains. Most of the time the train doesn’t bother defending at all; we just let an opposing server cap all our points while we cap all of theirs, then we WP back to our respective starting points and cap them all back. Rinse and repeat. :P

Unless your server is really bad, you should be able to start some Orrian temple pre-events and have people join you as you go along. Today I started Lyssa pretty much on my own then a few people helped to get the last point cleared. A typical crowd of people then turned up and hung around for Dwayna. Your server is probably a lot quieter than mine but by the end of Dwayna the event was probably close to overflowing, all starting from my Lyssa pre-event.

EotM is bad, but it’s good for ore.

Can’t you guest and do dungeons or world events?

There are web pages out there that detail what is currently available on other servers you could guest to.

Zerg world bosses and Zerg wvw.
I am a thief, I don’t do well in zergs because of short range, high squishiness and depending on melee for burst (aka, tagging)
I have tried wvw but the only way I can tag a lord is if the zerg is luckily small enough and noob(uplevels) enough to not kill the lord right away and/or don’t get too ahead of me. If it wasn’t enough, there IS a karma train around in the server but alas, my computer can’t handle so much models so most of the time I can’t even see or do any action.
In world bosses it’s almost always empty OR it’s way too huge it’ll make my computer crash.
It’s either one extreme or the other. At least I may have the chance to do karka queen if I manage to get a group going but again, chances are slim.

I don’t disagree with the OP’s point that not being able to solo the ore in some way is frustrating. But I’ve been doing a stream of world bosses each evening since the 15th and have more dragonite than I know what to do with now. I just follow the schedule with the duffy.net waypoint short cuts, and there’s always plenty of people around to do the events. The only ones that I’ve not seen successful yet are Tequatl and Evolved Jungle Wurm.

Choose the WBs you find most enjoyable, or just easiest, and farm them daily, is my advice.

Dragonite is fairly easy to get now if you can just find a world Boss group (and with the schedules that’s not hard). No need to track events any longer as far as I can tell.

I do use the timer. The problem here is that the ore you get per event is miserable and it’s timed gated. It basically boils down to this:
Wait 5-1 minute for the prevent, do the pre or wait idly at the boss stage for hard leeching. Do the boss (aka spam ranged #1), get a really cheap amount of ore. Repeat.
All while I have stacks and stacks of the other two that I have to keep destroying. At this rate though, it’ll take a bunch of months to get full ascended armor because the RNG gods of fractals are absurdly mean.
On top of that, you need a LOT of available time just to do events and you can do nothing in bewteen them or have to plan ahead with which ones are to come. So it boils down to waiting idly, go do something else. And to make it worse, the events that give substantial amount of ore happen really rarely and temples are pretty much random.
The other two you get by playing the game, this one though, you get by doing something I loathe and it’s the only way to get it.

It took me a while to get the accessories I wanted. They were accessible enough that I could get a second set because I wanted other stats. It took me some while but it was worth it.
With farming world bosses it took me like a month to get 1 weapon. I have no hopes whatsoever to get full armor but at least I’d like to get the offhand weapon as well or some other. But 1 month per pieces is pretty depressing.

I know it’s not always possible during the week, but my server (Gunnars Hold) have been doing a world tour at reset (1am GMT) for a quite a while now. It’s worth doing just for the social aspect. I usually get around 120 – 150 Dragonite Ore per night.

This won’t help if you don’t like zergs or doing world boss / temple events but it’s definitely a fast way to get dragonite if you don’t want to do wvw. I got a full set of ascended armour and GS doing this over the course of a few weeks.

There are two world bosses in Iron Marches that are not on the global timer and each pay 15-25 Dragonite ore.

Well, yes? The whole idea behind gear progression in GW2 is based on that assumption. Without it, there would be no point in even introducing different stat tiers, because (as some people proved) every content in this game can be done in blues.
Also, while not strictly necessary, Ascended stat advantage is significant enough that it helps. You could as well claim, that there’s no reason to want zerker stats, because you can dps in Giver’s.

You obviously don’t do PvP. And for a PvE-er, I feel for you. Whatever happened to smelling the flowers, and enjoying your game. Must be hard to have a non-paying job outside your daily job (or studies, or both).

I have ascended weapons crafting in all three areas and ascended armor crafting in 2 of the 3 areas. If I’m not short Dragonite ore, than it’s something else like leather, wood, iron, linen, dust, etc, etc.

Ascended crafting is a long term goal, just like going for a Legendary, it requires a lot of farming (gold & material) to get there. After six plus months, only three of my five characters have Ascended weapons and only one with some Ascended armor. It will take me another 6 to 8 months to outfit all 5 characters with just Ascended weapons and likely a year plus to outfit all with Ascended armor. After all that, I’m sure Anet will have something better to craft/build!

Even with Ascended weapons and some armor, I still die in dungeons and during World Events just like every one else, they are not OP. You can get the same or better stats with exotics using food and other boosters.
