Firstly I would like to thank Arenanet for making the deluxe permanent gathering tools, and the Copper-o-matic we have purchased account wide. It made things much easier for all of us, I think, whom bought the tools, but we are only part way there in my opinion.

I have a suggestion that I hope you will consider in regards to the use of tools and making access to the tools we own much faster, particularly for those of us whom play with multiple characters, swapping between them and going into WvW and back to World again (for myself “World” means my PvE home server, my Home), whilst friends and guilders may be waiting.

It takes a fair bit of time constantly having to swap the gleaning tools we own amongst our different characters. I’m suggesting that you could go a step farther after making tools account wide and perhaps enabling a tick box by each tool we own so that they become automatically available and equipped on each character we have in order to save us the time consuming exercise of having to log in and out, swapping the tools into the bank so the next character we use can fetch them back out again. I include the Copper-o-matic in this as well. It would save us precious time, not to mention those whom are waiting not too impatiently for us to get geared and logged up and in.

Just a suggestion, and one that has been popular with those whom I have tried it out on amongst players.

I can’t advocate this enough, it is so frustrating to swap characters, go node farming and stop only to realize you’ve forgotten to outfit the character you switched to with the appropriate gem store gathering tools. Perhaps they might add a box to the interface like the one under achievements for weapon skins? Making it so that we can recreate as many as we need at any given moment across all characters. I mean, who does it hurt? The items are “Account bound” anyway, its not like we can pirate the items off or anything.

How about a 20-slot account bound bag slot can only hold account bound items. When you log in every character, this bag shows what it has in your bag.

Maybe even make it a collectiable to which even when it is deposited it can still be used by all chars in the account provided they meet the lvl requirements.

There was a change a month or two ago where the unlimited gathering tools were all made account bound. Their price went up from 800 to 1000 gems as a result to reflect their increased convenience.

If you still have the old soulbound tools, take them to the Black Lion weapon merchants and you can trade them in for the new account bound versions.

Personally I find it unnecessary. They’ve already done us a great favor making them account bound. And it doesn’t take that long to switch. Just park every character by a bank when you log out. Ya’ll are acting like it takes 10 minutes to swap. It takes like 20 seconds xD.

20 seconds your way, 10 minutes when you reach that first ori node and find out the hard way that you forgot your tools lol

The way the finishers have been done is wonderful, I think something similar could work here easily… and also apply it to minis too while you’re at it

As for the 8 full sets of tools I’ve already bought (before account bound)… I think I’m almost ready to accept losing my $100 worth of Flamekissed armors, a refund would be excellent but at the minimum, making them something like the finishers would make me feel like the money wasn’t a total waste…

I would love to not have to worry if I have the tools on my character or if I put them in the bank. I don’t know how many times I have I equipped them and thought I placed them in the bank to find out I haven’t when I swap. A set for every character would be a huge frustration and anxiety remover. I get a little anxious when I go to unequip them fearing that I might accidentally destroy them instead (don’t know if there is a destroy prompt or not and I don’t want to test it to find out). Anything that allows the players to play the game instead of wasting time screwing around with tool swapping should be favored by the devs.

I would agree and go one step more… make all account bound items available (without the necessity of “swaping”) to all heroes on the user’s account; i.e. the copper salvage tool, the Queen’s Jubilee reward torch, etc.

20 seconds? Really? Come on. Just look at this scenario in the live screenshot… I have thoughtfully pre-equipped all of MY tools before I turned in the night before, so I am there ready to break stalagtites off Jornag’s tummy, meanwhile everyone else is stuck in the bank in L.A. trying to either find their tools amongst all the trash in their bank or trying to remember which char has what tool toing and froing rerereloading all their chars trying to locate each precious tool, leaving this poor brave Ram to deal with a very testy Jornag (I think he’s kittened cos nobody bothered to come and die on one of his spikes yet. Not twenty more seconds passed and he sent that courageous ram hoof-skating down the slope at 100km/minute after his angled spikes sent it what-a-worlding(it was really very funny)).

Oh yes, quislings, we need auto equip all tools to each char… Jornag and the Ram both shrilly demand it. XD

There is no reason for anet to do this. It would only cost them money. The way it is, they sell far more of each item.

I’m all for this. But then I’d like a refund on all the double copies that I bought. Like cranked said, this will make them lose a lot of money, because a lot of people don’t just buy 1, they buy multiple.
