I recently crafted a couple more weapons for my main but not really thrilled about the look. In the previews they looked fine but once crafted and equipped they appear oversized…..the sword tip is buried in the ground and my arm disappears into the warhorn. My toon is a Norn at max height and the weapons still look way too big. I’ve tried getting used to them but still find it looks weird.
I was considering transmuting an exotic skin onto them but wanted to get a few opinions first. Do people like the look of all the ascended weapons or does vanity play a role in leaving them as is? I realize there is a small improvement in stats, but not by a huge amount. Just wondering what to do before I waste money on transmute stones.

If you choose to transmute, get Crystals, not stones.

I like many of the Ascended skins, but I have also transmuted some. I love the staff very much and it is unlikely I’ll transmute those. It is not a waste if it makes you enjoy the game more.

On my warrior I had Volcanus before crafting the ascended greatsword. Needless to say, I transmuted it to keep the skin. I’m also going to transmute any other ascended weapons I will make. I’m not saying the ascended weapons are ugly (some of them i.e. the staff, looks very nice actually) but I just like the other skins more.

Some of the ascended weapons look nice, I crafted a Tonn’s Musket rifle for my warrior simply because I liked the look and its dark blue coloring. As others have said the staves look pretty good by default. But not all the skins look nice. And it’s all subject to personal taste in the end.

You can transmute even low-level gear to them if you want, but you will always need a Transmutation Crystal as the ascended is a level 80 item.

Prior to finishing Kudzu I had an ascended longbow that I put the siren karma skin on from the LA jp vendor. Some of my guildies thought new ascendeds have surfaced due to the name formatting after transmute when I linked my fuschsia [Pirate Crescent of Accuracy] in chat once :P

Btw, weapon size scales with toon height. A maxed out Norn will have a huge sword while a short Norn will have a slightly smaller one.

It varies greatly with people’s opinions on ascended-‘anything’ (weapons and armour). Personally I think they all look complete balls and wouldn’t make one if I were drunk/stoned out of my mind. I have no use for ascended gear so I don’t worry about it, but the look of these weapons and armours is a bit disturbing to me. For some reason they all just scream ‘transmute me!!’
