I have taken the time to gather 4 exotic rifles from dungeons in the hopes of getting the legendary rifle precursor, The Hunter.
4 rifles:

With 3 of the final 4 dungeons having the same stats as the precursor weapon, my imagination took me to a far away land of awesome lazer rifles and infinite gold after making and selling many precursors. The mystic forge then left me with nothing but 70 silver after selling this – http://www.gw2db.com/items/56929-clerics-pearl-blunderbuss.

While I am upset with my results I am hoping my endeavours will lead others to figure out a recipe and hopefully share it with the community

could hv saved time by digging up old posts. lindsey stated the only way to get precursor is by plug and chug of random rares/exotics.

Can you direct me to this post? I cannot find any post stating that the only way to get your precursor is random drop from 4 rares/exotics. Perhaps some of these combinations are not so random?

Yea totally could have saved yourself the trouble. I don’t know how you missed that.

There are a a whole bunch of threads on Precursor R&D and the mystic forge. All kinds of numbers showing that it is truly random. I will say that you are the first I know or seen that did dungeon weapons so that does help.

I had the same though. Take 4 of the same weapon from dungeons and forge those into a legendary precursor.

Hopefully they will change the mystic forge so that 4 dungeon weapons will forge a precursor. Or some KNOWN formula that will produce one.

I absolutly hate how they made precursors so RNG dependant.
Getting clovers is RNG plenty as it is.

All this speculation is all good and a little cute. But when people tell you that developers have CONFIRMED, that there is only the roulette of the mystic forge and random chest drops. You still want to continue to try and find the none existant recipe???

Sorry guy, the only way to get one is to purchase it off the tp or rng to victory. keep in mind using 80 rares has about a .001 or .1% chance of giving a precursor(based on the large thread of research). Best wait and see if they change the recipe for the future.

I feel for you. It’s a brave and bold try out. However, please when u do such things around, you may as well ask around 1st instead of go “NIKE to just do it”.

I see another guy from another forum posting the same effort using 4 dungeon GS in the hope of precursors and get even worse result (at least u had the sigil of bloodlust).
