Until now I never seen a need to farm these material types as simply playing whatever it was I liked to do on any given day result in me getting enough of all tiers of them to fulfill my needs. But unlike ore and wood there aren’t nodes I can just run up to and gather them. Though the drop rates of them from pelts and the like and gear drops was just about that for as long as I have been playing the game. Until oddly recently and I’m not sure what I am doing different now than any other time I have been playing. I went around today to various mob types that are known to drop stuff that salvages to leather and cloth but getting maybe one item out of every 10 or more kills is not my idea of a reliable way to farm for leather and cloth. Then I was well maybe I’m just not in the right spots with the right mob types and there is some magic spot where almost every kill yields one item to salvage. With that said is there a reliable way to farm for these that is somewhat comparable to going up to wood and ore nodes to get wood and ore?

My advice would be to farm Centaurs and Flame Legion. The former drop both bags and salvage items that give leather, and the latter drops bags and salvage items that give cloth. The trick is to find areas that have multiple dynamic events that spawn lots and lots of enemies (usually defense or assault events). In the case of centaurs, the Ulgoth chain is excellent for spawning lots of centaurs that give T3 – T4 mats.

The Silverwastes events also drop a lot of items which salvage to cloth. My Lv80 using the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic tends to get mostly silk.

Don’t forget foes that drop bags….those contain materials that are based on level of the bag (from the level of the foe that dropped it). Farming specific level bags in certain areas can yield some decent lower / mid level leather and cloth raw materials.
