[Feedback] Collectibles shown in discovery menu.
Personally I’m loving the changes they are making. It makes the game just so much less about juggling items from different places. I would like stuff sorted by some method but I can’t help feeling they already have something like this in the pipework based on how continually they are making great changes to the crafting system atm.
I would simply like the ability to filter materials based on profession.
So if you apply a “Tailoring” filter then you would not see materials that have nothing to do with Tailoring.

My only feedback would be that it kind of took the discovery out of discovery. It was already pretty formulaic (and of course there are dbs which take the mystery out of it), but now it just puts everything in and you just click things till you get something. Will we have a ‘autodiscover’ button next which shows you a list of things you can discover?

After I read your post I went back and tried it some more with various crafts and I can kind of see what you are saying. Discoveries that should be difficult are now extremely easy (ex: Sigils or runes).
However I believe that this was a positive change for things like cooking recipes or artificer potions. So currently I am having mixed feelings and I wish there was a midway point that could be reached.
Yeah, I mean, i just click until i get something. It tells you what you can start with and greys out things you cant use. Its easy mode.

But… it was already this way before Monday’s update. The only difference is that now you don’t have to empty your collectibles into your inventory to see it happen. The graying-out of materials that could no longer be used to discover has been in the game since day one. It’s one of the ways I went about making discoveries of potions. Couldn’t figure out how to make x potion? Leave the ingredients you know in place, empty materials into inventory, and look for the non-grayed-out ones.
Even though I agree that the process of “discovering” isn’t really complicated, there isn’t much of a way around it unless the tooltips that state what professions use a material are removed. Even then, databases will eventually be put together and, again, “discovering” won’t truly follow the definition of the word (in a non-role-playing sense). I believe this is just an element of static recipes.
This seems like a god sent for cooking. At 101 different mats (higher really but in principle) this is utterly necessary.
All I can say about this change is: Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Really, my discovery process is the same as before, but I just don’t have to worry that I don’t have enough room in my bags to chuck in everything from the collectibles (well those suitable for artificing) nor for things I make. Not to mention that I also don’t have to try to remember what I already put into my bags for discovery and what I didn’t, thus actually allowing me to discover new recipes.
A very needed and good improvement.
yeah, it dirties up the discovery window A LOT but it’s still AWESOME AS HELL!
Aside from the mouse-scroller scrolling the camera in and out if you move your cursor outside the items list (but still inside the crafting window) I do not find the update to be messy at all.
Nothing wrong with the option to organize though. I would love to see more nifty features like that added.
