Yeah that’s a little worrysome, specially since items like cadalbolg are in there lol. But from what I’ve read, an item won’t be found in the trading post until someone actually posts it, that’s why legendaries weren’t searchable before.

That’s why I thought before that it was bugged, but since that dev posted that it is in the game just 2 days ago it’s made me believe that there might actually be a place that hasn’t been farmed enough for it to drop, since it is a specific (rare) boss.

Assuming they can afford the listing fee …

It would be funny if someone already got this and they are trying to selling it(so you would never see the person in game using it since it would become bound) but they haven’t done so yet because they can’t pay the listing fee.

What about the area post-Simin in Arah’s path 4? I remember there was a maze of sorts around there, might be some alternate route or a bonus-event?
The path is the one that’s been played the least out of all explorable dungeons, and even more so the part after the priestess of Dwayna.

I just finished path 4, only thing after Simin is a couple of champions and the legendary giant, this event is pretty tough, we finished it but when the cannon charges it kills the giants, didn’t try to hit them cause I thought they’d be left alive so I guess if anyone can confirm if they actually can be killed without the cannon then the loot wud have to come from the giant because no chest spawned after the event. If not i’ll try it myself next time i do the path.

Another interesting thing I found is a POI named Zhaitan’s Rest, nothing special about but the name, BUT if you look closely at the zoomed out map there’s an arrow pointing to it? I’m just seeing things now…

Nah, this is where you have to destroy 3 towers to gain access to the next part, there really is nothing special about it but the name. The giants are after the simin fight but the event doesn’t spawn a chest, so only thing left wondering is if actually killing the giant as a party instead of a group actually makes him drop loot, beside that you can discard path 4. Zhaitain’s rest is just a POI to take into consideration that might be accessible through another path, maybe path 2 for example maybe then the arrow can have a meaning, I’ll be exploring the dungeons throughly just like I did this path starting with arah. I suggest dungeon goers to do the same, just make sure ur party leader.

I had sort of assumed if I worked it out, I’d be selling it for oh, 850g or so .

I’m going to stick with the info devs have provided, not because I’m 100% sure they’re correct, but because without that faint guidance there’s literally an entire continent where the staff could be.

Which means I’ll have to disregard the giant event, as there’s no chest.

Doesn’t seem like it would be rare if it is always on a certain path.

and let’s combine this with the “unfished jumping puzzle” in AC … at the end of it there is enough place for a boss to spawn (like the troll) and fight it there. How many ppl know about this place…and even if they know how often ppl go there?

We can rule out Ascalonian Catacombs and Flame Legion mini dungeon – Final Rest has a fixed level: 80. Its only going ot drop off an 80th level encounter, and that means if it’s in a dungeon, it can only be in HotW, CoE, or Arah.

But even those three have a tremendous amount of ‘back alley’ potential.

I was previewing it with my characters (necro’Sylvari & elementalist’Char). Not really a good look for either of them. If i got one, I’d offer to guild mate, if no interest, then sell it. I did escort Warmaster Leddron (event) once tonight…. 2 greens, rest were blues from the chest. That Champ Risen Abomination before reaching the catacombs & the Abomination inside the catacombs, just ignores snares and frozen ground 95% of the time. Can’t slow’m down! Someone in the group is always running for their life in circles. hehhehhehheh

It would be if it was path 4 after simin, I can tell you rarely anyone does that event, I mean why would you do the event after you spend 3-8hrs on that path lol, sadly it’s probably not since no chest spawns.

Can I just say that this thread is great, even though im not directly looking for the staff! A couple of months back I was aiming to make an Ele and obviously came across the Final Rest and had to have it. Since then ive dropped the Ele but im still interested in finding out the secrets of the staff even though ive no character that can make use of it! Chances are id sell it, wasteful as that is, but rest assured that any information I find (which is nothing at this point) will be posted here. Its like a treasure hunt and I do loves me a treasure hunt!

It’s funny though that devs confirm that it’s on the loot table, but then they go on and say different things.

I mean dev said it’s EXACTLY as lindsey said (Lindsey said that it drops from a LARGE BOSS CHEST), however this dev says that it’s a drop from a SPECIFIC (RARE) BOSS. So it’s not really that much exact it just opened up more possiblities until farther clarification or until the staff is found.

Hmm, i have NEVER done arah so this might be completly stupid, i dont care.

So, that picture with “Zhaitans rest” is pretty interesting. It made me think, when doing arah story can you access that place? As far as i know, zhaitan is ONLY in the dungeon in story mode, so maybe there is something there?

Since its zhaitan’s rest, it clearly means something with zhaitan. Maybe its just were zhaitan were asleep for all the years, but i thought that was underwater? OR maybe even, in story when you kill zhaitan, he fall down. Maybe that POI is were he lands? Is it possible to get of the airship and go to the POI AFTER zhaitan is defeated? It might be a bonus chest or something down there…

It’s possible that the POI is from the story mode even though I got it last night from Path 4 after exploring (hadn’t done story mode) I don’t think there’s a way to get there from story mode since all the paths are blocked and a lot of the time is on the ship. It wouldn’t hurt to explore story mode either though just to make sure.

I go with your second theory that it’s probably where Zhaitan rested before he awoke again, but nothing special about it, I will explore path 2 today see what I can find. I’m just trying to explore Arah fully to make sure we are not missing anything, Don’t take Zhaitan’s Rest POI to heart though, probably nothing going on there but it’s just something to keep in mind when doing the paths.

Haha no, I thought it was path 4 after simin there’s a giant event that’s pretty tough with waves of 5 risen at a time, figured no1 does this and that a chest spawned BUT no chest after doing the event and no loot from boss just some 15k exp lol.

I don’t think it’s the troll though, I kill him all the time. Though I don’t disregard the possibility of it being in AC (cause of the atmosphere/name)

How about the Eye event that spawns in the tombs on the kinds in the Cursed shore – the one just north on the map from Arah enterance. As far as i remember it has a giant chest too.

Also, no, I checked Arah story mode once again yesterday, keeping an eye on every minor detail, there’s nothing suggestive of Final Rest being there. Zhaitan’s Rest POI is also only accessible through path 4.

What if… it’s from a Large Boss… chest? For example, the Risen King (worthless as his blues are) spawns a little round chest behind him to the left when you finally kill him. Now, I don’t know about your server, but I’m the only person who has ever ever ever shown up to kill him. Ever. It wouldn’t surprise me if Final Rest comes from that chest (most people don’t even see it when they run in for the skill point).

If you say so, as you wish As said, this community don’t serve this weapon. Also 1 million times? I never even barely saw nor heard of one single ac run where the group kills him except rare occasion or when me personally was pushing to kill him. The skiprun (and much more skip him) exists from launch, too many noobs for the skippable boss, just on the first week people was fighing every single boss there not skipping. If was killed 100 times, i’m exagerating. (Also, consider the drop on this game, just pathetic, and on his loottable is approximately like drop a precursor from him lol) Who cares of him aggro him to the other boss or just ignore him running over. Meh Which other boss on this game can be categorized as rare? Every single boss spawn with a DE/is present everywhere inworld, he’s the only one “rare” spawning randomly , logic doesn’t help huh?

Its not the AC troll. The troll is level 35. The staff is level 80.

Ascalonian Catacombs = not a valid candidate

After exploring Arah Path 2 for about 2 hrs I can say there’s no hidden extra boss unless I completely skipped something, some interesting places I found but nothing worth mentioning. It appears Zhaitan’s Rest can only be accessed through path 4 also. Only thing left is Kojan the Gorilla King but, from the videos I’ve seen he doesn’t drop anything, he only unlocks a waypoint and no chest spawns. So this pretty much almost rules out Arah out of the equation. I doubt path 3 has any hidden boss or extra events.

My next guess is AC, though it’s not a level 80 dungeon a lot of gargoyle lore comes from ascalon + the name catacombs it’s too good to pass up (there’s even gargoyle heads that shoot fire), I should be able to explore all paths tomorrow to their fullest.

Lucas I initially intended to ignore you because I do not like your tone and you have the kind of self-righteousness (combined with the usual disapproval of the rest of the community) that I consider signs of a person not worth trying to talk to.
However since you keep on directly talking to me in some know-it-all ironic manner, I suppose I’ll have to eventually deal with your stupid arguments, so the sooner the better.
Fact one: I know a big deal of pick-up groups, either recruited directly in-game or through gw2lfg, do kill the troll. I used to run a full ac run daily for more than a month, most of the time with pugs, and statistically almost half of the runs we legitimately killed the troll. I can totally understand people skipping it though, as the profit gained by killing it is negligible.
Fact two: The only random factor concerning this dungeon event is its’ position. It has a bunch of possible spawn locations, but it does spawn in every single run, if you take the time to look for it. It’s probable that on a few unlucky occasions you won’t be able to enter the area where it spawns, but you still can’t classify it as a “RARE” event. Especially considering that AC is the dungeon to have been run the most times since release.
Fact three: The Troll does NOT spawn a chest when killed.

These are indicators that the troll is not the right boss, or if it is (as I’ve already said before) the drop rate is at subzero levels. You can go ahead and claim it is, you might as well go and grind the rest of your life on it for all I care, and I honestly wish you the best of luck on finding it.

@ Nike, I don’t think the boss we’re looking for HAS to be level 80. You can get items of your level by any chest, and even low level mobs sometimes drop stuff close to your level. If you also think about it, I’d say any lower level event boss on some stranded remote location might be a good candidate, as it’s been farmed way less than any level 75+ one.

Zogyark, maybe try running multiple arah runs and checking everywhere? I would suggest that if it is a RARE boss, it won’t appear every run.

I’ll keep checking while I do arah.

Search for “final rest” on the TP. See it? That’s cause no one has ever listed it. And even if someone obtained it at some point, it’d have made it on the TP, like every other item released at the start of the game.

It never has been found, and never will be found.

I got an Exotic Soldier’s Ring from Fractals and it can’t be listed on TP regardless that it’s soulbound on use. Conclusion: TP sucks.
I’ll be poking around the Za—whatever Catacombs @ Straits and see if anyone there gets it.

Not sure if anyone would be down for exploring Arah path 4 post-Simin, but it’s something that interests me. I’ve achieved Dungeon Master and completed path 4 multiple times, so if any of you would like to invite me to a group to do some exploring, feel free to add me. My main is “Brazil The Hue.”

@ RumStein – I have a full Arah set, gift of zhaitan and like 2000 extra tokens, I know the place pretty well I think a rare boss would’ve appeared then. I did check everywhere but you’re welcome to do so also if you want to be certain. Problem is there is only so much you can explore without glitching with the port gun, in which case I doubt that’s what the devs wanted us to do.

@ TheMaskedParadigm – I hope you read my post about what I found post-simin, you’re still welcome to go and explore so you can see for yourself, when you do kill the giant though try to see if you can damage it and if so, kill it as a party and not with the cannon see what he drops if he drops anything. Other than that I couldn’t find anything important.

I love how this is in the crafting section btw. I have a few things to say on the matter myself, probably repeats but meh.

1) I doubt there is a secret rare boss (that we are unaware of); the true dropper of the items is a boss we’ve probably already faced and aren’t suspecting well enough.

2) We must remember that RNG is deadly in this game, so if the weapon has been given an insane chance to get, it is possible that it could never have dropped yet from said boss.

3) It is quite possible Final Rest is more of an Easter Egg item. I suggest we try to decipher its name a bit more and what connections it could have. The staff is called Final Rest, and it’s sort of a combo of a sycthe and gargoyle. Look at the lore my friends. If I had to guess, I’d say it concerns Grenth/Dhuum. Is it possible that it could be dropped from the Temple of Grenth chain?

Final rest, master of hide and seek… Millions peoples searching for, and we still have no clue where it is hiding.. Anyways!

I have 2 theories.

1. It might be in WvW because its a huge world, lots of hidden areas, not many people go to WvW to explore and search for things. AND, they might have put it in WvW just to make things like this happen… Speculation. Simply because Anet KNOWS we arent going to think of WvW when he talk item drops. BUT think about it… In WvW we do get PvE drops, and it might aswell be a good hidden boss somewhere…

Theory 2: THIS IS THE MOST INTERESTTING THING, WICH PEOPLE DONT THINK ABOUT!

Don’t say “It got to be a lvl 80 zone, because the staff is for lvl 80” Thats wrong… Mainly because:

- The staff is not found yet, we have NO idea what level it is (Even though it is most likely level 80)

- Low level bosses drops exotic items for level 80.

So this is interessting facts… Because since low level bosses drops items for level 80, and only level 80 people will be able to get it. But how many level 80’s farm level 15 bosses? NOONE!

Lets say the shadow behemoth and why that could be a possible dropper.

1. The chest he drops can contain level 80 exotics. (I highly believe)
2. The boss is BIG! Like very big, so if they GM means “A BIG boss chest” like in big boss, this fits perfectly.
3. No level 80’s farm that boss, mostly level 1-40 do, since all level 80’s are in orr. This means noone has a chance to get the staff, because level 40 players wont get level 80 exotics.
4. Its “Shadow” behemoth, and look at him. He sure looks evil, and the staff has this “Evil” theme to it.
5. If you go to guildwarstemple.com and look at the timer, its always outdated, meaning nobody are farming the event like they farm dragons…

So, some of these points are good IMO. Like, not alot high level players kill low level bosses. And high level players are the only ones that are able to get the staff. So therefor, we can say the low level bosses are not killed alot.

If you get my point. To get the staff you have to be level 80, and not many 80 players go around killing level 15 bosses

Yes, thats what he says on the wiki, and when copying in the code, but remember… That might not be right. Since NOBODY has it yet, we cant be 100% sure. But it most likely is

I think we need more hints from people in-the-know.

From the sound of things I got really lucky with that thread… Did anyone bother to ask for hints in a new thread before?

I’m sure someone has, but here they either get merged or closed by moderators so maybe that’s why devs don’t get to see them. You’re the lucky one though so give it a try!

Since the lore says that gargoyles were hunted for their skulls
