Am I missing something or is Fine Crafting Material difficult to obtain. Which encourages farming which is not really fun. Unless the market is intended to eliminate that at which you still need to farm for gold.

Fine Crafting Materials (as well as Rare Crafting Materials like Charged Cores and the like) are intended to be harder to obtain, yes. You can get a fair amount of them through farming, opening loot bags (e.g. Light Mining Bag), or trading in Laurels for the crafting bags of the appropriate tier.

If you do a lot of harvesting of normal crafting materials, you can sell that excess in order to buy your needed Fine ones. Salvaging to increase your Magic Find also promotes this method (and can generate Fine materials as well). Use your mystic forge stones on Mystic Salvage Kits as they give good returns on all salvaging (if you have extra forge stones).

I also think that’s why they added the ability to buy them from the Laurel vendors for 1 Laurel for a bunch of fine tier materials.
