So I was doing fractals the other day and I saw a dude with a predator, I saw that the predator was a flame weapon like it was a couple months ago and not the cool plasma gun that it was originally. I looked on the forums ANET said that they changed the predator to what it was like before, the plasma gun. So then why did I see the dude having the flame predator and not the one that shoots little plasma spheres. Have they actually changed it yet?

I do not recall it being a plasma gun. Engineers have a gun that shoots stuff like that though. Elixer gun I think

It was DEFINITELY the predator. Not the elixir gun.

The predator used to be a gun that shoot plasma spheres and was a sci fi weapon that made laser sounds and shot purple spheres but then ANET changed it to a flame weapon and now the claimed they changed it back to the sci fi weapon but I don’t see the change.

I think they changed the sound effects back, but kept the flames. I was and am disappointed too.

I would be severely kitten ed off If it changed to purple. I just made it a few weeks ago because it is now red and orange. It still makes the stupid pew pew sounds though sigh I wish it made a large caliber sniper rifle boom instead.

But information on its current state is:
Projectiles take on a red/orange glow
Makes pew pew sounds
Charr head breathes fire on occasion
Some tubing pulses orange when stowed
When drawn you have a mid sized orange aura
Leaves behind short lasting orange foot explosions when walking
When firing you get a large orange transarent flare off the muzzle
Also when drawn, piping in the middle flames a bit
And when drawn at least one person near you whispers you asking what gun that is

From what they said they always planned for the predator to have a heavy sniper rifle aesthetic, including the fire and loud and realistic bang sound upon being fired, but some stuff wasn’t ready at launch, so they stuck laser sounds and effects on that were done. They never intended to keep them, but a lot of players grew to like it while a lot of players still want a true sniper rifle.

Honestly I don’t know why they don’t just make a laser legendary and let people swap it out for the predator if they wish upon release. It can’t be that hard, they crack out new weapons every month that almost no players are capable of getting, I think they could handle making this one that so many people clearly want.
