Does anyone else feel like even though you bought the game and should be able to develop your character as you see fit, Anet has decided to tell everyone they MUST change crafting choices to the three they have chosen with this patch in order to use the ascended drops. We should have the choice to make a crafting change if WE so desire or sell the ascended drops on TP and make some money. As it stands my bank is slowly filling up with all of the drops b/c I really don’t feel like being forced to level a new craft simply to use the drops. I guess big brother decides not only which profession you should roll but also which craft we should choose.

I think they will make the weapons tradeable when armor is introduced as well.

But if you want A legendary weapon, past or present, and people didn’t have a craft to make a gift, did the make threads complaining about not behind handed the item or buying it on the tp?

Nah, if they needed an item, they had to do a little work for it.

Compared to whatever else we COULD be doing to earn an Ascended weapon, getting enough crafting experience to make one doesn’t really seeem like so much of a hardship, IMO. Think of it this way: leveling crafting is very simple as long as you have enough gold to do so. How you earn that gold needed to level the craft is up to you. If you’d rather be running dungeons (which can be fairly lucrative anyway), or doing invasions, or whatever, then by all means, do that and just buy your way to 500.

Unlike many other games, you aren’t shackled to only two crafts on any character. You need not stick with the weapon-making one once you make your Ascended. If you’d rather not spend the silver to switch out one of your chosen crafts for a weapon-making one, then simply level up the new one on an alt. Ascended weapons as well as the materials used to make them are account bound IIRC.

I mean, I get that some people don’t like certain crafts or even crafting in general. But if we weren’t out farming mats to craft these weapons, in all likelihood we would be farming some other sort of token, or currency, or whatnot.

Ascended mats are used to craft Ascended weapons. Why does that not make sense? If I have lv 400 Cooking, why would I be able to use Orichalcum?

If you want to craft your own Ascended weapon, you must have a weapon type craft on. Later in the year, you’ll be able to craft Ascended armors with the mats. So if you save up, you’ll have an easy time doing so then.
