Hi, Sorry for the noob question, but i just wanna know if I can use rare/exotic 76-79 weapons to make precursor on mystic forge. I’m sorry if this thing has been asked before. I just to confirm this due to many updates on the game.

Yeah, there is a chance, key word is chance but it’s low. The higher the quality and rarity the better, or so they say. Here is what I do. You don’t have to do it, and I am sure there are better alternatives.

I farm CoF with my warrior and mesmer. I get about 1,000 tokens a day and at least 30-50 ectos.

Daily I make about 30g

I spend 10g on nothing but rare greatswords ( Daily ) I have been doing this for 3 days = 30g spent, and I have not gotten 1 precursor, however I have gotten plenty of exotics which I am saving up to attempt to use those.

Legendary is all about determination and dedication ( Don’t sacrifice your health ) if you want it you’re gonna have to farm your kitten off.

Lol i was just about to ask that too. I mean after the 3rd run or so, you drop down to like 6 tokens per run…a 1000 tokens…thats like 800 runs a day!

If you alternate characters you can avoid DR and get 20 tokens per run +9 possible from 3 bags. That’s 32 runs a day at best (2 runs get you 69 at best), which, depending on your group, could take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours of dedicated time.

You should craft level an alt with that gold so you can run CoF with more characters to make MOAR monies! I have 5 80s to run CoF on…

I do cof on 4 lvl 80s path 1 & 2 = 120 tokens + 9 ( from the bags ) 120×4 = 480 + diminishing returns which easily add another 500 from my toons which totals to about 1,000 tokens. It takes about 3 hours dedicated time. I use mystic salvaging kit which is 250 kits that are equal to a master salvaging kit.

Thats about 35 rare lvl 70 helmets. I salvage all of them for ectos. The lowest I have gotten were 40 ectos. Highest I got was about 60.

Sell 60 ectos for 30s each. You can kind of see how much gold that is.

+ the things I find like rares, molten lodestones

All total to about 30g daily.

I then use 10g to gamble at my attempt to get Dusk/Dawn.

I have been farming cof a looooooot. Thousands and thousands of tokens spent. On average it is 2 ectos per 3 rares.

I have been farming cof a looooooot. Thousands and thousands of tokens spent. On average it is 2 ectos per 3 rares.

Some people put in 10 rares in the forge and out comes a precursor.

Some people find their precursors in fractals, dungeons.

Just because I get more ecto’s than you does not in any way mean what I said was “bs” what I had said was the honest truth.

I am sorry you have terrible luck, I for one even with 25% chance, end up getting 2-3 ectos every 2 salvages.

Just because you farm and farm does not mean you’ll get good results.

I played this game since midnight launch when it came out and I have yet to get a precursor.

What is your point? If you’re here to atagonize what I had to say then just kitten off mate.

I just tossed around 200g worth of exotic and rare greatswords in, trying to get a precursor.

As others have said, some get it on the first try.

Others, like me, waste a stupid amount of money on a stupid bet.

In my experience, the Mystic Forge is best touched with a 20 foot Mystic Pole.
