A-net,

Have you implemented a new zone reset policy that changes all the nodes once a day and often more than once a day.

It’s started changing every night for Straights of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap, Cursed Shore and others.

It’s making any sort of regular farming unnecessarily difficult.

I invite you to change your policy if you’re using this to make farming too hard to bother, thereby driving gem sales.

I mapped out the Malchor’s Leap run today (which was a massive pain and was done post-new build), ran 2 characters through it and on my third effort the map has completely changed and I’m not in an overflow zone – now I’m back to square one – all my efforts down the drain.

This has been discussed.

(Summary) – Maps reset when unpopulated.

I believe this will occur less often with the Megaserver coming online.

Liet is correct, however, something else is going on in this case. Yesterday I did the same thing, mapped Malcher’s completely. Went back on another character, and the nodes had all changed. I walked to Cursed Shore, came back to Malcher’s less then 1 minute later, and the nodes were back to the earlier layout. Then they changed back to layout 2 on the next character I went on. Also, the zone was not empty when I left either time, and not empty when I arrived either time.

@Zangster, based on your post I will apply this theory – The Megaserver creates multiple versions a map, character 1 loads into map A and character 2 loads into map B. Character 2 exits map B, then reloads into map A.

This is my opinion based on what I’ve read about how ANet has implemented the Megaserver.

I thought Megaserver only applied to lowbie zones?

I’m positive that was supposed to be the case – maybe they’ve accidentally included the end-zones as well.

That was the tentative original plan but it was changed before the patch went live. Megaserver is getting turned on for maps with low population first which makes more sense.

Malchor’s Leap is on the megaserver system now (even if ANet hasn’t officially listed it as such…). So chances are, those that are seeing multiple node layouts are getting on different instances of the map. Get used to it though because ANet doesn’t seem to like node farming even if it helps the economy, unlike champ farming.

I’ve made a thread with a solution to the constant resets and different instances brought with the MegaServer release that are currently making harvesting awful. Please post your thoughts here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestions-Compromise-for-harvesters/

Which really means that maybe 10 maps are currently not on megaserver. Perhaps even less. Both the original plan and the last time announced correction went out of the window the moment the patch hit, basically.

Actions, not words.
