Q:
Gathering tool question
^ This. Also, since the tools are ending up as B. o. P., could the description reflect that? Right now they look like a normal item if you spend copper on them so it seems odd that you can’t transfer it between toons if you haven’t actually equipped them.
/third, I hate having a bunch of pointless soulbound obsolete crafting tools on my main, and then either allow them to clutter up space, waste time running around in a zone I otherwise don’t care to be in to burn them up, or waste them by throwing them away, while I still have plenty of alts that would enjoy using them. I know it’s not a ton of money wasted in chucking a half-used stack of copper tools, but I just have a basic aversion to needless waste.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
Yea this makes no since to me, I would love to see this changed.
I still don’t understand why we even have to buy tools by the stack. If I bought a pick that broke after the first use I certainly wouldn’t buy another, and I’d never buy a whole stack of them. /shrug
We actually could sell them, not so long ago. I believe it was changed since you can purchase them from both vendors and karma vendors, with the latter being a somewhat awkward but ‘profitable’ way to make some easy copper.
actualy the game makes it a bit wrong its not a stack its a single item with so many uses on it
thats also why they cant be sold back in the past a pickaxe with 1 or 100 uses was the same price as it is 1 single item
so people could buy 1 stack and live vorever with it if they sold it to a vendor to get theyr money back
A similar question – does anyone know how the master craft gathering tools work? I got one from a chest or personal quest or something and saved it for the higher tiers as I didn’t want to waste it on carrots and copper. When I used it later, I got ruined materials. Apparently it has an effective level, but it’s not indicated anywhere. It’s really annoying and now I don’t want to use it at all since I don’t want to experiment to find it’s level and ruin potential mats. I know it would probably not be a huge deal, but since I’ve outleveled the zones I would have used it in anyway, it’s kind of useless. Makes me sad, cause I was excited to see the green level gathering tool and thought I got something special.

Master tools has the same effective level as Steel tools
Master tools has the same effective level as Steel tools
That doesn’t seem to be consistent. I’ve just used a stack of Master Sickles on Lotus Root, Omnomberries, Orrian Truffles and Black Crocus. It has never failed on any of those. On the other hand the Master pick failed to mine Mithril. I didn’t want to risk the Ancient Logs so I haven’t tried the Master Axe.
The vendor in Lions Arch clearly states there are no refunds; so I try to avoid that merchant and use only Norn approved vendors.

Lmao.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Master_Mining_Pick The wiki mentions it ranges in what it can and can’t mine. This seems to only be on the MM-Pick page but not the other two tools. I can’t offer any other info besides them being not as good as you would think/hope.

There are 3 tiers of master tools; common; masterwork and rare. The first you get early on from as a story reward. The second I believe I bought from a karma heart vendor in Bloodtide Coast. The third I still have not found. Common mines copper/ iron. Masterwork mines gold/ platinum; and Rare I suppose would mine mithril and ori ore. The tools give a chance of a higher yield and gems.

What bs! For a description that says ‘MOST efficient’ it sure as hell ain’t that efficient. I saved my master tools for higher levels only to find that they aren’t quite as ‘Master’ as you’d think they are and just gave me ruined crap.
