Gift of magic and might expense
I’ve already said that there are no means of acquiring a legendary if you played legit so far. Take your opportunities when you can like in phase 3 @ Lost shores.
Things will only go downhill from here. (Ectos climbing already to 27s each)
I’m about to get my own legendary and will stop there, since I wasn’t lucky or smart enough like other players who own more than 1.
Like horheristo said, just leave or keep doing your farm like a mule for months.
You lost your ship for exploit/cheat it

I am not even amazed that some people have more than 3 precursors while I lost like 200g + countless rare drops + crafted rares so far in Mystic Toilet, bad luck. But I am still annoyed when I see people with more than 1 legendary. Maybe I am not a hardcore player but I do play 4-5 hours a day since headstart and I am not even close to getting most of the mats for gifts/whatever.
I must’ve missed some serious shortcut to getting precursors/legendaries.

now I realised I could just buy 1-2 precursors by now with gold I wasted…
Thief/Necro/Guardian/Mesmer/Elementalist of SFR EU
Seriously noone else think this absolute bullcrap requirements now? The prices keep going up and up..
Market has shifted. They placed alot of supply for precursors and alot of demand for t6 and ectos. =/ In the end, we’re still in the same boat as before. At least this time around, it’s easier to see your progress (by that I mean it’s easier to acquire a prec now, and once that’s done, you can clearly see your progress towards your legendary). Maybe this is what the QQers were looking for?
I have to agree that they have become too expensive – the number of recipes requiring stacks of T6 materials and globs of ectos has shot through the roof, while farming strategies have been nerfed again and again.
I mean really, I don’t want these kitteny things handed to me, but I want a viable way to aqcuire it. Right now this is just a load of cats, or kittens. >:[
Agreed, Anet really botched up the farming part. First they had a anti-grind manifesto then they included Ascended items…which are a total 100% WoWesque grind.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind having new stuff to work towards but realistically including them, getting rid of the bots and the sheer cost of the t6 mats needed=market chaos. I think they need to hire a economist to help them understand the changes they’re making and what this does to the TP.
They made precursors much more readily available and thus more affordable.
Unfortunately the rise in T6 Mats really countered any savings you might have had. I’d like to say that at least they’re farmable….but somehow they’re not.
They have an economist, he’s called John Smith. Haven’t heard much from him recently though.
John Smith should go back to real life economy. Applying wierd capitalist ideas to fantasy MMOs is a horrible idea.
Well if it makes you feel any better…
Those that did get their legendaries and even got a few in their hands, are right now in the same pinch as everyone else
Meaning they’re stuck with no means to make quick gold and even now by getting new ascended gear.
So everyone lose out of this situation, the only difference is that they got past the legendary wall.
thousands of people got precursors off of the lost shores event. In the midst of this Anet banned thousands of bots. You now have less bots farming T6 and WAY more people buying them now that everyone has a shot at legendary items. How is this hard to understand? Everyone cried about precursors being to ridiculous to obtain before lost shore, and now that everyone has one they’re gonna cry about the mats. My guess is the next content patch will drop a random T6 stack to appease all of you. I’d reckon the icy runestone crying will commence following that. None of you got in early to finish them fast using godskulls and gem buying and all that crap, so now you’re gonna have to tough it out and grind your kitten off like intended.
now you’re gonna have to tough it out and grind your kitten off like intended.
Like intended indeed.
All of these mats and precursors topics wouldn’t exist if everyone played legit by the way.
Why? because the legendary would actually hold a legendary status and be recognized as a weapon that only players who invested a considerable amount of time achieved.
Hell, I doubt anyone would own a legendary if we had today’s market from release.

They wouldn’t, and the people who have 2+, or the ones with Eternity definitely wouldn’t.
I’m going to make a topic about first Legit Sunrise when I get it. sad face
I’ve already said that there are no means of acquiring a legendary if you played legit so far.
Well, not quite.
I got my first legendary roughly a month ago (with The Legend obtained from the forge), after which I basically began from scratch again. I didn’t have a second legendary in mind before the prices shot up. Now, with the market in the state that it currently is, I forged another precursor – this time Spark – which I then traded for 290g before the Shores event brought the prices down. Playing the market (with precursors & T6 materials) during the last week has brought me the remaining 100g+ that I needed finish my stacks and Icy Runestones. Now, with only some karma and badges remaining, I’m looking at a second legendary – completely obtained in the current state of the market.
While I don’t deny my luck with the forge (I have theories, though, as I’ve got two precursors in almost an identical way as well as the 154 Clovers with a much better ratio than is widely known), I have soon obtained two legendaries in a perfectly legitimate, systematical way without buying a single gold or gem with real money – and the second in a roughly month’s time, playing only up to 5 hours a day on average.
The prices are ridiculous, there’s no question about it. But I chose not to be paralyzed by it and went on to find a solution, which I also found. You just have to search for ways to exploit the market reactions that we’re seeing right now; the opportunities are there, and even with, say, 100 gold you can make measurable profits in a very short time.
@ Drebi.1875
Great input, you jumped the biggest hurdle which was the precursor with RNG and the rest was cake since T6 mats were cheap at the time.
Here’s the thing though and hear me out…
I make anything from 25~50g (solid) a day (depending on my free time), from 2~4 hours considering my goal. My method was only realized at the beginning of this month though. Yet I still find it difficult to keep up with the market’s prices.
I’m positive if I was lucky enough to get a precursor earlier I’d finish it up by now as well.
I’m glad that you made it on time with some good luck on your side, but considering a legendary atm will cost anything from 700~1000g – Unless you’re an expert at playing the market, you won’t make it again. (not just you specifically )
@ Horheristo.3607
I suggest you take another look at my previous post; all the T6 mats for the second legendary were priced as they are now – totalling ~270g. For example, the lowest price at which I bought bloods was 24s, with most of them at 28-29s As you put it yourself, I, in fact, did not “make it in time” this time around. I say it again: obtained in the current state of the market.
It’s not about jumping the “RNG hurdle”, it never was. You presented a sturdy claim and I simply proved you wrong: it is completely possible to get yourself a legendary today. It wasn’t previously impossible, and it certainly isn’t now either.
I’m under the firm impression that Anet want’s you to buy gem’s to convert into gold to buy all your T6 material’s. It’s the only reason i can see for keeping the DR in. My 2 cent’s anyhow.
Colin Johanson on how arenanet measures success
Drebi.1875
No, actually I was only referring to the first legendary in my first comment.
In relation to everything else you said – I did say “Unless you’re an expert at playing the market”. So nothing proved wrong, you can still get a legendary if you know how to play the market.
I won’t go through this torment a second time by the way. I can easily get a legendary per a month played now, but after the first one I’d rather focus on the rest of my characters. Since I enjoyed being able to choose whichever class I want at GW1 with max stats and best gear, and am planning to do the same here. (already past the leveling part, just lacking gear)
My question is how the hell do you make 25-50g in 2-4 hours? Are you selling all the mats you get as drops? I mean doesn’t that defeat the purpose of farming since you prolly need the T6 mats anyways?
Am I legendary yet!?
Horheristo.3607
I find your response a bit contradicting, as you’ve provided insights such as “It is literally impossible unless prices considerably drop in the future.” in other threads in relation to this topic, to name just one. Your reaction tells me a different story than what you make it out to be, and thus I strongly doubt that you would “easily get a legendary per a month played now”.
And oh, that sentence there is already in conflict with your previous statements. You now make it seem like it’s the easiest feat in the world, while still having previously strongly argued against it. I guess you just proved yourself wrong too, huh?
I’m not picking a fight here, mind you. I’m just surprised by the change in the direction of you statements and the fact that you completely dodged my point I made with the second legendary (which is the one that matters in this context) and went on to discuss the first instead. Not really convincing.
My question is how the hell do you make 25-50g in 2-4 hours? Are you selling all the mats you get as drops? I mean doesn’t that defeat the purpose of farming since you prolly need the T6 mats anyways?
I’m not farming mobs, it is highly unrewarding.
I own 10 lv80 alts, and part of my gold making revolves around nodes farming, but not all of it.
In case you wondered, I got just above 700 hours so no lifeless gamer here, just playing smart. (though not smart enough to take advantage of past exploits…)
Drebi.1875
You’re right, I was very contradicting, and was in fact not talking about myself -
But the majority of the players (anything from semi-hardcore and below).
I don’t mind being the silly wrong guy here, I know the facts, I got my account and screens to back it all as well. But it really isn’t what I came here to say or prove.
(edited by Horheristo.3607)
Ah, ugh thats like 500 mithril ore for 1g at 20c each. kitten that’s alot of farming hehe. I found running dungeons does pretty good(26s per run) but i still can’t figure out how to do 12g an hour
Am I legendary yet!?
Oh please stop your whining!
First its the precursors and now this.. It’s too expensive, it’s too hard.. Please give me legendary for free and no effort and lets have everyone run around with legendarys because then they are super special!!!!!
The only reason precursors were adressed was because they got out of hand and wasn’t realisticly obtainable! because the price went up faster than people could farm gold along with an increasing demand.
Now t6 materials is too expensive???? Get out of here. Go play the game and get some balls and accept a challenge.
At least now you can see the end goal and it’s actually farmable!!! What more do you want? My guildie has spend around a month and a half farming for Volcanus and is around 100 lodestones from it, when he gets it he is going to be the happiest little camper alive and thats how its supposed to feel like!
Keep QQing about these things and you’ll probably see changes, but you will kitten the game. Dev’s seem to listen to whining people who don’t get what they want when they want it!
Btw I am not an exploiter and i have my legendary so quit your whining. Just because you aren’t smart enough to figure stuff out doesn’t mean everyone who worked hard and got their stuff is a cheater or an exploiter.
“Thief thinks every man steals!”
Indeed. I would much rather have cheaper precursors (or in this case, buyable precursors) and expensive t6/ectos rather than the reverse. (oh and just in case, nope I don’t have gift of fortune/might/magic yet, I’ve only got like 58 ectos and 3-6 t6 mats each except bones and dust).
It wouldn’t be such a huge problem if there were other ways to obtain them. Hardly anyone whined about the legendaries being difficult, we want them to be difficult. We however do not want them to require tons of gold or grinding.
From what I am gathering, everyone just wants alternative ways to obtain these materials.
@Hasek
Your post is very offensive and not very constructive. Really? Did you tell is to get balls and accept a challenge? Do you really think to farm 250 Powerful bloods (which are about 25s now) among the other expensive, overpriced materials is a challenge? Its a mindless grind, the only thing challenging about it is not quitting the game due to farming the same thing for hours on end.
Get off your high horse, you bought all the materials when they were relatively cheap, at this rate, eventually the cost of the materials will be far worse than the precursors were unless something is addressed.
Perky – 80 Norn Guardian
Soapie – 80 Human Ranger
Take my advice – wait. Farm and play normally, and save everything (Including money) until they stabilize drop rates etc. Anet will fix it, but it will take some time. They are still learning how the economy changes with introductions of things.
we want them to be difficult. We however do not want them to require tons of gold or grinding.
sorry but apart from grinding and gold, what other “difficult” methods would you require? Insane jumping puzzles like the mad king clock tower? I’m sure even more people would complain. Sorry but this reads “we want them to be diffucult, but, you know, not really.”
I can sympathize with the previous era wherein precs were insanely expensive. But now that precs are easier to obtain (arguably, at least no more 400g legends/dusk in the market), there’s no real reason to complain anymore.
I’m kinda in the same mood as the other poster above. Quit complaining and start farming. And get your precursors now before supply dries up. There’s only so much time before a number of people buys up all the precs in the market and they become expensive again. People complaining about precs being insanely expensive = this I can understand. People complaining about lodestones = this too I understand. (and somehow, whether by design or by accident, both precs and lodestones are in a stable-ish time now. I heard people were getting decent amount of cores/lodestones in fracs). People complaining that the t6 mats and ectos are expensive = we gotta draw the line at some point. With such varied and itemized mats needed, at the very least a progress bar is visible, something which legendary farmers were clamoring for for a long long time.
@Hexgame man these guys are right.
I am getting my Juggernaut in 2-3 weeks tops. And I didnt exploited. I just have 1000+ hours played.
Yes legendaries are expensive, yes you need to grind for them. But thats the how it should be. Legendary weapons are just kitten awesome looking weapons and they are ment to be crafted only by dedicated players, those who play Guild Wars 2 countless hours a day. Those who spend more time ingame than in real life.
If you are avarage, or casual player and dont have time to grind or play 10+ hours a day. It should take you months, years to obtain one. Thats how it is and thats how it should stay.
Deal with it.
Stop complaining about hight prices all the time. First its precursor, then lodestones, Ectoplasm … now t6 … whats next? Runestones? Recipes ..
Legendary weapon cost around 400-700g. What if developers at release decided it should be 1000-1600g? You just have to live with it.
You should just go grind or give up. Complaining is not an option.
Simple.
So please developers, dont make legendaries easyer to obtain ever. They should remain rare. Thats why want them, because they are rare.
P.S.: They have already stated that players are reaching Legendary weapons faster than they were expecting .. so, the prices are now where they should be.

Haha, the T6 mats only spiked because the insane requirements for ascended stuff.
What they did was increase precursor drop rate, slightly, but then add a bunch of new items that require the same items to make as legendary recipes, but with as many mats required.
Making legendaries just got more expensive than it was before and then you go ahead and say we need to work more for them than you had to. How selfish and ignorant.

Of course they would have to do something to “normalize” the market as they felt the prices of those t6 and ectos were too low (now I kinda feel they’re too high, but the more people get them, hopefully it’ll pan out eventually). Or would you rather go back to the good old days where getting a prec was the biggest barrier to your legendary, and it all depended on whether you’re lucky or not?

No, but now it’s even more expensive than it was overall.
That aint right.

Funny…
Because if anything I had to work for legendary harder than you!
I bought precursor and lodestones weeks ago, when they were a lot more expensive.
And .. I bought like more than half t6 material this week
So I had expensive precursor, lodestones, and also T6 material. And you talking about I had it easy?
Nice try
How you can say that legendary is TOO expensive? Ofcourse legendary is expensive, they are ment to be. When they created legendary they wanted them to be kitten expensive so only the most dedicated players can afford them.
You just dont seems to understand that.
Bentley is not for everyone too you know.
If i remeber correctly. Players were coplaining about precursors were about RNG or too expensive and they cant farm them. Now you know anet is adding scavanger hunt and precursors are cheap, so you just have to start to complain about different things. But you said YOU ARE OKEY with progression as long as you know you get there one day. Here is news for you. YOU CAN FARM ALL T6 MATERIAL.
Who said that you will obtain legendary weapon in 3 months? No one, maybe developers wanted you to farm for it for 2 years. Thats shocking news isnt it?
(edited by Kacigarka.5176)
Yeah too bad most agree with the fact these mats are too expensive now. I am ok with progression, I am not ok with getting 1 mat per day by farming, literally.

One mat per day? .. its easy to make 2g/hour.
So lets say you can make 10g as avarage player a day .. thats how many bloods a day? 40? ..250 in a week max.
You are just making up stuff .. T6 material is expensive as it should be. Its the highest tier.
You just were used to low prices due to many bots. You should realize, those low prices were set up by BOTs .. actual prices are where they should be from the begining. Can you understand that?
(edited by Kacigarka.5176)
Just skimming through the posts…
What I noticed is that people complain about the T6 mat price. It sounds to me that people prefer to farm gold and convert it (buy) to T6 mats, rather than farm for it. If this is true then its logical that due to such high demand the price will go up.
Furthermore, if this process (farming gold then buying precursors) is used for other precursors then this will also cause prices to go up.
Sounds to me like, initially, people found an ’"easy" method to progress towards a legendary, however, TP saw this and bumbed up the prices.
Now people complain…again lol.
Do not click this link!
Problem is there is no really viable way to farm the T6 mats so people have to buy em. I think that’s a major gripe, at least from me. I mean trying to farm vials of powerful blood off karkas is a pain. If i get lucky, i’ll get maybe 3-5 off of em an hour. It’s much more productive to farm the cash than it is to try and farm the mats. This in effect raises the TP prices which in turn creates threads like this.
Am I legendary yet!?
I will give you guys a hint where you can find every single type of T6 materials in 1 place.
FoTM! I’ve been doing this dungeon daily and I’ve seen all T6 materials and they’re not that rare in there either. Get to work boys and girls
Commander @ Tarnished Coast
Maybe you should start a petition for them to bring the bots back, so you can get your cheaper mats again.
Then you can go back to complaining about the bots, but secretly whisper ANet not to fix it this time.

I dont know how can I be the only one who noticed … but I give you the advice. DONT FARM karka and try something else up there ..
Skelks in Lost shore map. They drop powerful blood 10x more then karka (found in bottom right corrner) and try to not farm solo, do it with friend.
- Ive got 10 powerful blood within an hour, they also drop vicious fangs
There are certain creatures that drops certain T6 mats, like kraits drops armored scales, spiders venom sacs, etc.
BUT again. All T6 material is farmable, prices on TP are where they should be. And its your OWN fault they are this high when every second person is rather buying everything than farming for it.
(edited by Kacigarka.5176)
oooooooooh so you CAN farm t6 mats) Gonna hit suncovethingy later to try it out :P
Just to note that it is possible to up-convert materials via the mystic forge i.e. T5 → T6 and doing so often HALVES the cost of many of the T6 mats given that T5 are so easy to farm. I average (est.) 35 T6 materials from a stack of T5.
Yes it costs skill points but once your clovers (which will give you @10% of the mats) are done this is an effective way to reduce the costs – in fact it can be virtually free if you farm the T5 mats.
Like I’ve said, I DO think the T6 drop rate is too low BUT the current prices are more due to the volume of demand created by the lost shores event than any real supply issues.
@ morphemass
Yeah thats what i’ve been doing too but i still need10 more clovers so unfortunately i’ve been having to use alts to do that with. I’ll be so happy when i get the clovers done. Seems those are the endless gold vaccuum.
Am I legendary yet!?
I crafted my legendary a month ago, after 750 hours, and a lot of cursed shore event farming for karma, I found all I needed to buy were bloods and scales. Everything else I’d got from drops or moldy bags.
