Guild Wars 2

im only around level 22 and fairly new to the game, im playin charr and im just looking for a good place to try and farm leather and jute scraps for my ranger.

my crafting professions are huntsman and leatherworker, and i am trying to raise my crafting levels in both so i can get some higher level gear.

any and all help would be appreciated!

you can look up the items in Wiki (you can even do this by typing /wiki and then whatever you’re looking for in game in the chat window! e.g. “/wiki jute scraps”):

these should tell you where you can find them! also, don’t forget you can salvage low level items for jute scraps (light armor usually), and leather (medium armor)

hope this helps! also, make sure you don’t OVER farm lol. i did that with the next level and had WAY too much (so i sold on trading post). plus i like to take a break from farming, story advancing, exploring and crafting just to keep things fresh : ))) though i do get in the zones sometime

also, when you have a LOT of stuff (iron ore for me, since i didn’t really start crafting until a lot later), i in one go i refined them all into iron ingots.. and i leveled so fast that i moved on from iron and i had all this extra stuff as well.. so do be mindful of that too ahha

just to add, at lower levels, do salavage as much as possible and kill as much as possible. saw this in another thread and it’s good advice. wish i did more salvaging when i was lower levels.

As a human, I got my jutes from killing centaurs. They drop those bags with crafting materials inside. Also I salvaged … a lot.. using the crude salvage kit (cheapest one)

Jute is definitely best acquired from using the cheap salvage kits on light and medium armors (heavy too? not sure?). Aside from that, anywhere you can pick up “loot bags” is as good as it gets.

I’d say, so long as you are completing zones for the decent silver you get at the end of zone completion you should have more than enough money to buy all the leather you could possibly need. Leather sections are up on the TP at 1c above vendor value, so even if you bought 2000 pieces of leather you’d really only be spending 20 silver more than if you farmed all the leather you needed (2000 copper/(100 copper/silver) = 20 silver).

If you really enjoy farming all the materials for crafting then other than salvaging, the only other tip I can give (especially if it’s still good leveling, i haven’t done it in a while) is to do Caudecus Manor runs (level 40 dungeon). That should be good leveling, decent silver, and tons of loot bags and salvage-worthy gear for cotton and wool, and as you level, salvage worthy gear at whatever level you are at, since drops from mobs are based on your level not the mob’s level.

(Also, don’t forget that leveling a crafting profession awards XP, in fact leveling a crafting profession to 400 skill (max level) will yield 10 levels worth of xp, no matter what level you do it at. i.e. if you intend to level 2 crafting professions and no more, then saving your gold, and doing all your crafting at level 60 will take you straight to 80.)

i have been having some trouble grinding to get to a higher level, so maybe i will just chill, gather a bit and do some power leveling on my crafting…
