It’s kind of silly that we haven’t yet seen a grandmaster jeweler, especially since we’ve had Ascended rings since November 2012. (And, by now, have trinkets and such too.)

How long until the Jewelers get more attention?

They introduced ascended (lvl 500) crafting for the 8 professions at different times, mostly due to the time it takes to implement it but also due to the impact each of those updates had on the game economy. They had 3 months between ascended weapon and armor crafting and i expect a similiar timeframe between asc armorcrafting and lvl 500 cook and jeweler introduction.
Anet also pointed out that after the last 4 Living Story Updates are released until March, they will take a short break and then do a big content update, which in my opinion will include cooking and jeweling 500.

So expect it end of March/early April.

The economy is the big point that most people will be concerned about. Before weaponcrafting we had the Queen’s Jubilee and mass-zerg events based around that, and Scarlet’s Watchwork stuff as well, which created a massive influx of in-game gold. Anet didn’t do anything about the farming because they wanted to get people saving their coin for the first of the Ascended updates. One of the dev’s actually quoted, before the ascended patch, “prepare for disequilibrium”.

Now, with weaponcrafting AND armourcrafting being dealt with up to 500 (there’s already 6 disciplines), a lot of that influxed in-game gold has dwindled (actually a lot of it left people’s pockets on the first ascended update, running the TP short on materials, wood in particular). My guess is they’re waiting a further 3 months-ish for players to gather the rest of their gold/materials for the incoming patch for jewelling and cooking.

So yes, as Wanze already stated, my guess would be the big feature patch in the next month of two, if not shortly after.

Why should Jewelers be upgraded to Grandmaster?

What would a Grandmaster Jeweler craft that isn’t already available in game?

There are still alot of stats missing for ascended trinkets. Anet could also go for new Infusions.

Jeweller 500? We’ll make the sellable Ascended trinkets? Maybe I can regain my wasted money on this profession so far…
Cooking 500? Rare/Exotic grade foods? Just if its designed to long 1h+ and have the same or slightly more effect than the other foods now. Party Food Supply?

Crafted Ascended trinkets may also come with an adjustable upgrade slot. That alone would make it much more valuable than the Ascended trinkets we can currently get through other channels.

If Jewelers could craft infusions at 500, that would be plenty enough reason for people to grind it.

Can you imagine? +50 attribute infusions?

If there was to be a discipline that crafts infusions, I’d think it would be Artificer, not Jeweler. After all, they’re the ones that refine infusions.
