I would like to take this opportunity to change my previous rant about the update to a more constructive zone. I was pretty heated but thankfully it was a simple error, so no harm done

I am wondering if anyone knows a decent way to get the new items for the 3 Halloween items. I have been working my but off getting all the ingredients for Arachnophobia, and I did successfully get all the items I needed for the old recipe. I can manage the 10k candy corn without too much difficulty, but the other mats are really stomping me right now. I realize I could just work to buying them if I really wanted, but that doesn’t appeal to me nearly as much. If anyone knows any ways to obtaining those items, I would appreciate the help!

I pretty much had the misfortune of running into the exact same problem as you did. I had bought and prepared everything to make the recipes just to find out that they’ve been changed. I was looking at the wiki recipes too, which weren’t changed until a good hour or so after the patch. As far as any ideas to smooth this over, I did somewhat find one, though it is not a significant improvement to our situation.

The dressed-up children in Lion’s Arch (slightly south of the MF, near the repair smith), they trade personalized trick or treat bags for candy corn. It turns out these personalized trick or treat bags have a chance to drop the gift of spiders recipe, though it’s really rare. I suppose if you got one of those to drop from the bags, you wouldn’t need the fangs anymore.

It’s a long shot but it’s all I came up with so far. I’ve opened many normal trick or treat bags and the drop chance for fangs from them was horrible. They dropped a lot more from the personalized treat or treat bags as well.

I did not want to open a new thread for this is I’ll ask here: I already crafted my arachnophobia and as far as i know only the gift of spider recepie has been changed right? so you still need 50 skill points, 100 mysitc coins and 20 superior sigils of the night.
When i cheked my gift of spider receipe it still showed to old items like gift of ascalon destroyer loads etc… Am I missing something here or did the receipe just remain unchaged for ppl that learned it before this patch?

The recipe itself has stayed the same, but the recipe to get the recipe to craft the gift of spiders has changed. Anet had a poor laps of judgement and made it super difficult. Sadly, I had all the items needed to make this part before they disabled it (I was going to wait until halloween so it would be more special, and get the other items) but then they disabled the recipe.

So pretty much everything is still the same, but if you want to make your own gift of spiders, getting the recipe will be a bear

Ingredients needed for the Gift itself stayed the same. The items required to make the recipe to learn how to make the Gifts become insanely stupid.

If you already have the recipe, then you’re set. Nothing changed. And for those of us who don’t, I guess the best option is to buy the weapon or the Gift off the TP (or try to commission someone who has the Gift recipe to make it for you, though that of course runs the risk of getting scammed).

Well thank you Anet! They released a small post on the forums stating that their initial numbers were wrong to make the recipe for gift of spiders. I am much less angry now I mean it is still going to be a bear to get all the ingredients, but I find it a possible challenge now. I will have my Arachnophobia!!!!!

10k upgraded halloween mats. 28 days, so 357 mats daily. 24 hours per day, so 15 mats per hour. Basically, to get enough mats in time, you’d have to farm non-stop for the whole event (with no breaks for sleep, eating or personal hygiene), and get one mat drop per 4 minutes.
