The price has been inflated – the goal (maybe? Why didn’t they do it for leather if it was). Now it’s time to drop it to a more reasonable price. It really shouldn’t be outpricing it’s T6 counterpart – which it is so close to doing.

Making a profit is healthy, but don’t blame the players for this mess.

Check the price on linen, 6s atm.

Right now silk is selling for 2.72, gossamer for 1.89.

Regardless to make enough for a single thread, costs just over 8g.

For one day.

I play a fair bit, I do world bosses and dungeons every day, but I only make about 10g a day. Spending nearly my entire daily earnings on JUST THE SILK for the bolt is insane.

I had enough forethought to stockpile the crap out of silk, but I still think the prices are insane.

They double dipped. It’s been said before, one of the increase measures would have been enough, but double dipping to 100 bolts per day is out of control. Even playing several hours a day I can’t come up with that much silk. None of us can and the market will dry up soon at this rate.

I just pulled all of my sell offers on silk scraps. The EU daily reset sucked a LOT of silk out of the market. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen at the NA reset time, and I’ll be in bed.

Silk Scrap is at 2s.58c and Bolt of silk is now 8s.75c. That’s 8.75 gold for the daily refinement … Yesterday I was thinking 5-6g was bad now were almost to 9g. I sure hope they do something about this soon. At least give us another way of getting silk… some kind of gathering or something so we don’t have to rely so much on the TP.

Not only has the price per scrap almost hit 3s now. ( It was actually at 2.94 for a while) The demand of buy orders was 10 times greater than that of available supply. How can any reasonable person still think that there is a proper amount of silk entering the market with the current means of acquiring it??

I’m choosing to stay with exotics.
At least I’m making a ton of money selling all the mats.

It’s pretty insane. I’m not really sure what to do with this game now. I have one of each profession but just to equip them all in one set of ascended would take a minimum 220 odd days just from the time gating but I’m all out of silk now and there is no way I can afford to buy materials from the tp so it’s hard to know how long the whole process will take.

It’s certainly deviating quite far from GW1.

You know something is wrong when silk bolts cost twice as much as gossamer and linen 3.5 times as much as gossamer. Give us material demotion!

So glad I finished my heavy set for my guard. Now I can just load up my bolts on the market and wait.

IMO, it would make more sense to have it set up so that each ascended material was used in two types of armor. For example:

Light: damask (primary) + elonian leather
Medium: elonian leather (primary) + deldrimor ingots
Heavy: deldrimor ingots (primary) + damask

Making all three types of ascended armor use Damask seems like a terrible decision, no matter how I look at it.

Changing the equation from 2 scraps to 3 really broke some immersion for me. It seems most distasteful to change the laws of physics mid-game.

Anyone starting a light armor wearing toon will feel pain now. Forget about leveling tailoring, all cloth prices have risen sharply. The economy (for armor crafting) is grade A fubared.

Nope. Leather is still incredibly cheap. Orichalcum ore can easily be farmed (over 250 per day). Gossamer scraps are very cheap. Not all gear comes from crafting.

While that may be true. I just don’t see many new people being able to level tailoring very well. Once they hit cotton it’s going to be farm it all or stop.

Cheap leather has very little impact on the cost of tailoring.

You’re right, the above prices make perfect sense. Especially when it takes 3 silk to make a bolt and at least 2-5 bolts to craft a piece of armor (not counting the insignia).

The price run on silk is pretty much over. Unless they sold a few pieces of Damask when the prices were high, all the medium and heavy armor types have their first set of Ascended armor, and probably used up everything they had to get that set.

It’s only the light armor players who are still working on their first set, and by now I’m sure almost everyone has enough mats in storage to make that first set.

Silk is done. The amount available on the TP is creeping up again and scrap prices have stabilized and will probably start falling soon.

Linen on the other hand is still a problem because level 80’s don’t get much of that in salvaging.
