Help! Stuck at 430 Artificing
Any exotic recipe that is available at level 400 will give experience. Once you hit 450, you can refine Empyreal/Dragonite/Bloodstone until 475 too.

You need to discover the (character) level 80 exotic weapons. This guide can provide some more concrete information.

This looks like what I’m looking for! So, should I discover Pearl Tridents, say, and craft those up to 450?

It’s always better to discover new things instead of making old ones, because discoveries give you some bonus experience. But you can, of course, discover Shaman’s Pearl Trident, then Settler’s Pearl Trident, then Rabid Pearl Trident, followed by Soldier’s Pearl Trident, etc. Just make sure to have a look at the price of an inscription on the TP; some are considerably more expensive than others.

Cool! I enjoy the discovery process. Time to pop my Crafting Booster and get to work. ;-)
and farm orich/ancient wood/globs and various other knick knacks that are expensive on the TP. I have huntman at 500 and Weaponsmith at 487——back to Orr.

For reference, getting from 400-500 should be just as easy as getting from 400-425. Discover new recipes based on materials used for crafting that you might have an excess of, for example. Each new recipe discovered will yield approx 3-4 crafting levels per.
However, crafting empyreal, dragonite and bloodstone will not get you anywhere near as far as discovering new exotic recipes. In this weird conundrum, T7 materials actually yield a lot less exp per craft than exotic recipes. You’ll need to craft literally thousands and thousands of T7 raw materials (eg. dust to bricks) to get the same crafting exp as one exotic recipe discovery.

Of my two accounts artificer is the only one I have left. In fact I just went to 483 yesterday on one account. Firstly, what you want to do is gather during the week and craft only on Thursday/Friday because of the world bonuses from WvW. Next, is to use a crafting booster. That’s about 65-70% on critical crafting bonus.
For the crafting itself, it’s pretty simplistic. Craft 5 of each base weapon component for Focus, Scepter, Staff, and Trident. Then either buy or craft 20 inscriptions of 4 various stat types. If you have the mats, might as well use them instead of buying them all.
This is just for example but, you’d discover a Zerker Focus, Zerker Scepter, Zerker Staff,
Zerker Trident. Then you’d continue with the next stat type, so on and so forth until you hit 500. Once you hit 450 though, use up any Obsidian and Ectoplasm refinements. You’d be surprised how many times I’ve ended up at level 499.66. Only to have to craft another to top it off.
Except for Jeweler and Chef, that’s how most of the craft’s work.
