Q:
Help with Zommoros
I really would like to know how to as well but sadly the interesting information is limited to a few. You could check out the wiki page for the information on crafting mats promotion or forging Mystic weapons.
Ok thanks,i have check that out earlier but i dont know for which class they mean……or choose the Mystic Forge out the forged stuff just for mine character when i forge? You cant forge what ever you want and its very limited.
there are certain recipes that give you certain results, like the mystic claymore/greatsword as a great/cheap example of getting a good exotic weapon through
you can make vastly more money with the magic forge than with farming 10h a day but the forge needs quite the money to get started (if thats your goal)
there are lots of “handy” recipes too, like the mystic salvaging kit
Also, check out the search funtion in the crafting forum here, simply search for “mystic forge” and read through the topics.
a little hint from my side, which is low cost, rather high margin.
buy 250 large scales via the custom offer option, set the price for 86copper (the price has been fluctuating from 80c to almost 90c this morning), buy philosopher stones from the girl next to the forge, buy crystalline dust and finally you need one armored scale
for the following recipe you will need
1 tier 6 material (the armored scale)
50 tier 5 material (the large scales)
5 philosopher stones
5 dust
what you will get is (well, i dont think its true) 5-15 armored scales (you are more likely to get 5-10 though, i have never ever gotten 13 and more from any of the t6 and I have done maybe 500 transmutations?
but anyway, here comes the math
250 large scales = 2g (@80c)
25 dust = 25s (more or less, its neglectable anyway)
philosopher stones are “for free”, that means they cost skill points
1 armored scale goes around 11s (and you probably have one already, but im gonna count it in anyway and you only need 1 to get started)
the investment is 2g 36s (around 2g 25)
I, that’s me, this very person, it can be different for you, am getting 7 armored scales on average per transmutation (or in general, 7 t6)
you do the transmutation 5 times, equals 35 armored scales, equals 3g85, minus 15% fees from the trading post equals_roughly_3g 25s or in other words 1g profit, repeat.
/eddit
and have fun and don’t go farming, I mean, do go farming, and sell me the t5 mats for cheap
Hah…So…just tried this…kind of a fail…
47.50 for 50 vials of potent blood.
10.99 for 1 vial of powerful blood.
8.90 for 5 crystalline dusts.
Total cost, 67.39
I received back a whopping 6 powerful bloods.
Total resale value, 10.99 x6 = 65.94
-3 silver listing fee
-10% selling fee
———
Total Net Profit: -8.5 Silver.
So…I lost 8.5 Silver. Had I gotten 7 instead of 6, I would have actually made a profit of 1 silver…
Prophet, did you insta buy and insta sell, or did you make buy offer and sell offer?
This was strictly testing buying at the lowest price currently available. I did not insta sell but sold at maybe 15 copper above the lowest current selling price. There were hundreds of buys at less then what I was offering to buy, and hundreds more selling right at or above the price I was going to sell.
So, I bought the lowest price out there, rather then waiting, and I sold at a few tiers up in price. I checked about 30 minutes later, and the price the t6 item was selling at, had dropped almost 70 copper.
Granted this was just one test, and I could have easily gotten 7 or 8 out of the forge. But many are reporting at times getting 5, which would have been an even greater loss. I could have waited of course, and did a much lower buy, and a higher sell. And maybe broke even this time around.
Just to break even, I would have had to buy lower, sell higher, having gotten 6. I assume thats the true average from all the people saying they got a few 7-10’s and lots of 5’s….
As a note I ran some formulas in excel…I think if I had rolled this a few more times, AND tried to do an purchased a little lower, and sold a slight bit higher, I might have actually made a little bit. If I had rolled this again, and say gotten: 6, 9, 5, 7, 6, I would have averaged 6.6 which would be a 13.2% gain vs a 12% gain which would have at LEAST been enough to break even and maybe make a bit. Thus, I think doing the 250 one, might be a better yield but that’s just a guess at this time.
The mystic forge has several different purposes.
1) Gambling. You can try your luck on getting an upgrade. This can be done with most items – armor, weapons, dyes, upgrade components (like sigils and gems), miniatures. It behaves according to specific rules – but under many circumstances you will lose money.
2) Maintaining certain prices in the economy. There are ways to convert low-level items into higher-level equivalents (green wood into a better type of wood, for example). This sets a price relationship between those two items, to keep certain extremes in check. They’ve also used temporary recipes to remove excessive quantities of items out of the economy.
3) Making legendary weapons (weapons with neat skins and special effects, but relatively normal stats). This takes a great deal of time, gold, and a near-infinite capacity to whine like a kicked dog.
4) Making certain crafting recipes. Many of these overlap with #3, but not all of them. You can craft food tray recipes and armor box recipes in the Mystic Forge. You can also make entertaining cosmetic tonics using the base mystery tonics that are found in Black Lion chests. You can make stronger siege weapon blueprints.
well, thats exactly why I said do it with a stack of 250 in case the first ones dont give you enough.
also the prices have been dropping and what you paid for the potent blood was too much. since we are dealing with maybe 20s profit for a 50stack but that always depends on both prices, powerful and potent blood
today I watched the price for potent blood go up and down again, when you buy low and you transmute a stack of 250 you really have to be unlucky or selling too low.
I mean, I did quite a lot of these transformations and you need some time to get a hang of it, the mystic forge in general.
but honestly, i did this 3-4 days ago and margins have been getting smaller and smaller, happens with most products that people figure out how to make a profit off, makes sense.
the most important thing you will need for the forge is patience and spare money, I’d never tell you to try to make a living with gambling either but if the risk of losing money doesnt matter that much the potential profit is much more appealing…and its quite fun actually, had a good day today with transmuting exotics, but I lost 10g at one point because i had a series of bad luck. it just happens
there are other recipes that you can use to craft specific things without the chances of getting nothing.
but if you do anything with the forge, do ALL the math first. if you see that you cant make much anyway, why bother?
hope you are lucky tonight
Yeah, I agree that the 250 stack is a better run. Just everything I read with mystic clovers, everyone was a fan of the higher percentage with the lower recipe, so figured I’d give that a go. I’m again, still poor, and bounce between 3-5 gold, having not ever ‘rick rolled’ off the TP. So, I don’t really have money to play with heh. As you said, I’ve seen the prices bounce all over, just like supply and demand should…and I could have probably ran this differently if it wasn’t for testing purposes.
I’ll try it again later, with a purposeful test of being more patient. But definitely it takes money to make money….and I’ll probably wait a bit as my char is having some bad luck…
Last 5 rares have not given ectos, and threw a few gold at buying rares, and only got rares in return, and I just dont have the gold to keep throwing to get exotics. Will be more fun to try it once I get a bigger nestegg.
And hooray for my master and black lion salvage kit not giving me anything savlaging rares but silk and ore..but that’s another thread…
