Help with tier 1 Huntsman - stuck at 45
Try for other sigils, inscriptions. Make sure you have materials. Check your recipes against this list: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Huntsman/Green_Wood_recipes
Thanks for the link but I’m not even 50 yet so I can’t use any other rare mats. The (master) inscriptions are in red and I’ve crafted the six starter inscriptions with all weapon types. Other disciplines went so easy with discoveries, but I was only getting 140 each trip to the discovery panel (the one sigil I can discover gave me 2 full crafting levels, however). Are there other items I’m missing? Like potions with artificing maybe?

This site might help.
Hi guys, thanks for the guides So I relogged and half of the items I discovered were not on my list… my mats were still gone. I also can’t rediscover them… anyone heard of this happening before? I’m thinking of remaking my level 4 mezzie and starting fresh, cause I’m not really comfortable continuing if something’s wonky with my experience gain
I don’t feeling like grinding out duplicates for a fraction of 140 XP I get from discoveries. Luckily green wood is vendor-cheap right now. Still… so many blue mats. Off to Queensdale I guess
Hopefully no one else finds themselves in this situation.
It’s always best to not focus on a single inscription type for points. If you are not using these items it’s best to farm something other then blood.
I’d personally suggest getting poison glands, bones, and scales as they drop the most off of any mobs in any level zone then anything else (especially bones later.) So When farming keep that in mind.
Bones off of trolls/grawl, poison glands off of grubs/spiders/devourers, scales actually fall off of fish so splish splash for mats.

You mean recipes disappeared from the production list, or mats aren’t appearing in the discover window?
Once you’ve discovered all the possible recipes for an ingredient, it won’t appear in the discovery window anymore.
The production list items are grouped, and you can accidentally shrink the groups. I’ve done that a few times and panicked. Take a look at the groupings in the production list and see if the arrows next to the item types are pointing down or out.
The best thing to do when crafting is to start out by refining large amounts of materials before starting the discovery fase. You will know you have refined enough when the materials names in the tab have turned white. Only then start the discovery fase. Not doing so will cause you to loose valuable crafting experience points you won’t be able to attain at a later stage. I assume you might not have done this; in which case the only alternative you have is to keep grinding stuff until you reach lvl 50 and unlock newer insignias.
I know those first few points are kind of squirrly, but the most important thing is to have all the mats before you begin a tier. IE you should have something like 250 copper, 300 green wood, 100 leather scraps
Refining all of this will get you 30-40 points and making the components another 5 or so.

Both in fact. Sort of.
Before I logged off I saw 7 of each weapon type in the production list after I discovered each using all types of insignia (plus the (simple) versions). I was getting 140 experience each discovery.
When I relogged, there were only 3 or 4 per weapon type (plus the (simple) versions). I crafted the missing inscriptions, and they appeared in the discovery pane, but when I added either the components or the inscription, it acted as though I already discovered it and the missing recipe ingredients were greyed out.
I remade my character and my I’ve got some wood and copper from friends. I have to farm all the rare mats again though.
Thanks Omni and NoOneShotU for that tip. I typically take the long route and refine to demand (ie. refine enough mats to make one discovery). I have acute short term memory loss from an accident and I get distracted easily, and I have a problem with crafting more of the same item after a discovery, so I do as I say as a safeguard lol. However, I totally overlooked the experience I’m losing (though I’m gathering that something was indeed wrong with the experience I was getting from discovery) by not refining everything FIRST. I guess it will take some more brain power and vigilance to keep track. I know it probably seems silly or easy, but it takes effort for me. Nothing I can’t handle though And I should save a lot of coin leveling now!
Once you figure out how many mats you need for a tier you can just write it down or follow a guide. The only one that is wierd is the 2nd tier (Soft wood) because for some reason planks made of soft wood take 4 instead of 3, so it takes about 400 wood.
Keep an eye on wood/metal prices as you skill up. I remember in the 3rd tier when i did it seasoned was going for about 41c a stick and iron was 10c. All the guides had me making bows, but bows weren’t near the cheapest. I was able to get a ton more iron and use less wood making pistols/rifles rather than bows.
