I’ve farmed a hefty sum of karma, but I just discovered I need to find an NPC that only appears after finishing the temple of balthazar world event to exchange the karma for obsidian shards.

i went to gw2state and there simply is not a single server with the temple open right now.

so how does one go about reaching this NPC? do I really need to go for less efficient ways to obtain OS? are there servers that do this event regularly or should I just babysit the webpage like I have to do with several other things required for legendary? what about icy runestones? will they be just as big of a pain in the kitten as this?

The necessity to finish the obsolete and inferior temple event to get shards for karma is inexplicable and appalling as they are either way available for laurels and belongings without restriction.

As things are now, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting them ’til LA stuff ends at the very minimum.

This should be fixed asap as a lot of ppl only hoard karma for shards and nothing else, myself included. Yet we should wait weeks for LW to pass to even have a shot at the event. Pathetic.

You could always organize a balth. attack yourself. I am pretty sure you aren’t the only one who needs those shards right now

You just went to play the game in non-prime time hours. Wait for primetime – Balthazar is always cleared daily on the top servers.

I’m not sure where you got the idea that Icy Runestones are hard. Runestones are almost always available every 3 hours considering each server will complete Claw of Jormag.

yep, I just noticed that suddenly several EU servers had “open” and “attacking” status on balthazar during the late afternoon/early evening, that makes it so much easier, thanks.

About icy runestones, I was wondering, since everything so far about the legendary is a royal pain in the kitten , that it would be just as painful if not more to be allowed to spend 100g.

You can guest at a server with open temple. I check this site to see which one is open. Also my home server does the temple event right after reset too.

I prefer gw2stuff.com because it will tell you if the temple is open, or at what point is it in the process of becoming open

Icy Runestones are IMO the easiest part of the legendary. Cheap and quick to acquire, and 100% guaranteed price.

naw, the sigil is the easiest! I’ve made 4 legendaries, and every single one of those sigils cost less than 3s.

I’ve been getting my Obsidian Shards from the Scarlet event in Lion’s Arch. Three per chest, and you can do it as many times as you want, so long as your server or overflow has the man power.
To be fair, I haven’t raked up a huge sum of shards, but it’s my only alternative to laurels, seeing as I’m normally asleep on the daily clear of Balthazar on most servers.
