Guild Wars 2

I decided to give exotics to my alts and now I’m stuck with a bunch of rare karma armour sold from a vendor in WvW. I was able to throw rare heavy Invader’s armour into the Mystic Forge without a problem, but the Mystic Forge doesn’t recognize rare light/medium Berserker’s armour.

Is this a bug?

Karma armour is delibrately non-forgable. Karma is very easily obtained and the devs position some time back (After the pepper popper incident, mass precursor forging after launch; and later with the demon horns) is there should not be any major ways to convert karma into gold.

If you’ve found any karma armour that CAN be forged then it is a bug.

You can buy Karma Armor from the temples for 42k Karma each and toss them in the forge..

Used to be able to salvage them for the runes and ecto’s but NOT anymore! Anet fixed that… but Mystic forging them still works fine.. 168k Karma for a chance at a exotic armor worth 2-5 Gold inst an issue for Anet. Probably better off with Orien boxes

Karma armor, or WvW Badges armor? Just wanted to clarify, as I’m at work and can’t test it ATM.

Karma armour from WvW. If you go to where they sell badge armour there’s also another NPC with [Karma merchant] over his head who sells Blue/Green/Rare armour. The rare variety comes in a choice of stat combinations. However, for Berserker’s and presumably any other combination aside from Invader’s you cannot throw them into the Mystic Forge. Invader’s, however, don’t seem to have any problem.

The armor that VidGhost and Ryuujin are talking about are two different things. WvW karma armor and temple karma armor are apparently treated differently. If it was considered an exploit then Anet would have fixed them all at the same time IMO.

Unless its something they just overlooked. I’ve seen it done before in other games. I’d just hate to be banned for doing this if it was considered exploitive.

It’d be nice to get an offical answer on that and the rest of this thread, but you know how that goes.

I guess since Ive seen it suggested in numerous threads that if Anet had a problem with it they would have said something by now. Maybe they think that ~165k karma to a cpl gold is a reasonable trade lol. The temple vendors aren’t all the time either. Just a guess since ya…official response, lol as if that will happen.

Considering how often the forge spits out karma items, not allowing karma items to be used in the forge would be a really stupid move.

It’s a risk/reward thing. You could throw in 4 karma items and get back another karma item(probably the reason karma items are in the result list). What the devs don’t want is DIRECT karma to gold conversion.

Based on the cost of http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crude_Salvage_Kit , http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Orichalcum_Mining_Pick and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Alcohol it looks like 1 karma is worth 0.875 copper to the devs. Unless you find a way to make a guaranteed 14.7g from those 4 karma items then you aren’t getting more than what the devs think the karma is worth.
