Some I.G.I. like Dire, Magi, rabid etc etc. are not craftable.
GW2 Wiki says, acquisition: Salvaging exotic “item prefix” armor.
I’ve bought a pieceof Dire armor and salvaged with BL salvage kit but no insignias, only globs, runes and scraps, why?

Even with the BL kit its not 100%
Also, be sure the Armor was EXOTIC level and not just Rare Dire armor.

with BLSK, the rate is about 61% chance to get an insignia from an armor (provided the armor is able to drop them). MSK has about a 42% chance
also, there are many armors that won’t give the insignia. any crafted armor won’t give it, no matter the prefix (draconic, emblazoned, exalted). there are also some named armors and dungeon armors that can drop them.
examples of exotics that can drop insignia:
dire orrian spreagun of rage
dire ceremonial stave of accuracy
dire sneakthief mask of the centaur
shaman’s seer coat of the flame legion
Galrath’s
Jatoro’s
Vatlaaw’s
Khilbron’s

I have recently decided to do 400+ crafting and after reading about how you can only get some recipes from salvaging the exotics, I decided to tag along on some world boss zergs. So far I have salvaged 8 or 9 exotic world drops with no luck on any recipes (Using Black Lion Salvage Kit). So should I only be salvaging exotics that have Rabid, Magi, and Dire in the title? Are these the only groups to provide recipes through salvaging?

I have tried following quite a few guides but they simply state to use “Rabid-fill-in-the-blank”, but don’t go in to detail on how to acquire them. Are there good guides available that break it down to my newbie 400+ dumbness level?

In order for the item to drop its insignia/inscription via salvage, it must meet the following conditions:

1. It must be Exotic. (Rares will never drop insignia/inscriptions.)

2. It must a type of insignia/inscription that cannot be crafted using Fine materials. (e.g. Berserker items, can be crafted with Powerful Blood, cannot be salvaged. Dire items, which has no corresponding insignia/inscription crafting recipe, can be.)

3. The item you are salvaging from must not, itself, be a crafted item. For example, Tahlkora’s armor is a Shaman’s stat Exotic armor set that is only acquired from drops. You have the chance to get Shaman’s insignias when you salvage them. However, if you bought a Shaman’s Exalted Light Armor from the TP, which is a Shaman’s stat Exotic armor piece that was crafted by a player, you will not be able to salvage the insignia from it.

2. only exotics with Cavalier Tpf, Dire Ctv, Magi Hprv, Rabid Cprt, Sentinel Vpt, Shaman Vch, or Soldier Ptv stats. They will likely have those words as the prefix of the name, but not necessarily (lots of named exotics also have these stats – you’ll have to look at the stats to determine if it can). and, yes, can’t be the crafted ones (draconic, emblazoned, exalted, pearl, quaggan).

4. there are a few exotic named weapons that do not drop inscriptions even though all the other criteria were met: Guild Defender, King’s Remembrance, Poyaqui’s Noggin, Occultist Flame, Scepter of the Highborn, Defiant Blaze, Faithful, Monsoon (to reiterate: these WILL NOT drop inscriptions. If you find that one of these does give you an inscription, please let me know so I can adjust my list as that means they changed it in an update)

Also doesnt give a sentinel insignia when salvaged.

a not-bad generalization about which named weapons can’t drop inscriptions even though they should is the exotics that can only come from champ bags. I believe you can get many different exotics from champ bags, but there are a few that only come from them, and it seems that those (or at least most of those) can’t drop inscriptions.
