As the tittle says, is cooking worth it? i am only 80 for a couple of days really and loving everything (still exploring etc) but is cooking going to make my life THAT much easier?

is there anything bound to character? i mean..could i use it to instantly (close enough) level a charater up a bit or will i be missing the proffession on my ’’main’’ ? i have enough matts stocked up to get to 400, easily.

For me cooking is worth it. The different foods to use are wonderful. They give different effects for different situations. All food to my knowledge isn’t link to a single character. Everything can be sold on the trading post. But I feel it is worth it. I craft goodies for all my toons to give them some added stuff while leveling them. Also cooking is a big help in dungeons as some food will help with different areas.

Cooking is worth it for the cheap exp, but not the food. Most foods go for under a silver or two on the TP. I don’t think there’s anything that’s bound except for some karma recipes. Having said that, cooking is so much fun. It doesn’t feel like a drag, you don’t have to keep tabs on what boots or shoes or insignia you discovered already and you can guess most of the recipes.

Magic find food is used by many…
All food gives some XP boost.
You should almost always be eating some food, if just for a little stat boost.
Put on your chef’s hat and ENJOY!

I have a 400 chef because I found it fun. My husband has multiple 400 chefs because he found it the easiest way to level his alts from 70 to 80. On paper, it’s much more cost effective to just buy your food, but I’ve had good luck getting dyes from food harvesting, and I love opening dyes, so I’ve got most of the materials to cook for myself.

“worth it” can mean vastly different things to different folks. It’s not worth it to me to spend 5G to get to 400 right away, but I found it to be a really easy craft to level with just the stuff I find by playing.

I think if you’ve already got all of they 80s you want, and you don’t get any personal satisfaction from crafting and don’t care about the achievement, you can safely ignore crafting altogether and just sell the materials you harvest. Unless you’re really involved with the market, the cost of materials is very close to the cost of the end product.

Cooking is by far the most fun I’ve had crafting in this game. Recipes don’t follow the same pattern like they do with other crafts. They follow real life cooking recipes, and it’s quite fun to discover them all.

That said, I have not found cooking very useful after maxing it. I do make my own omnomberry bars and one or two other things, but that’s about it. The dyes take too many materials to be worth it.
