Assuming that you ignore the cost of leveling an armoring profession to 400: is it worth it craft your own exotics?

In other words: Pretend you just had 400 armorsmithing for free (so the only cost of making the armor is the materials required in making the specific set you’re going for). Would it now be cheaper to craft a full heavy exotic set than to buy one, or is the cost of just buying a set off the TP and making one yourself about the same?

If you make a buy order on exotic armor and someone sell it to you, then its very likely to be cheaper than making it. I dont know about all items but most items is around cost price of mats or a little under.

i second putting in buy orders. try looking for existing armor sets on the TP. i only say this because T6 mats are going up like crazy now so i assume it might be more costly to procure the mats now. so depends also if you’re going to farm to get your mats. and how quickly you want your set.

I think it all depends on stats rather than just armor/weapon being exotic. TP is filled with exotics at low prices but getting, for example, Berserker piece of gear means you need to pay few gold extra. OFC there are cases of some weirdly named exotics with same exact stats which cost way less.

As stated already prices of T6 mats going crazy atm but it may all settle down when new patch kicks in. People may be stacking stuff just in case. Also farming most of the mats is not a really big problem only ectos may take some time or gold. Best way then is to either craft it yourself or ask someone to craft it for you. I made lots of amulets/rings/armors for people who just gave me mats and some silver for my trouble.
