Hey there guys,

I was wondering if i would get a good profit out of it if i maxed this profession. Seems very interesting and i’ve leveled it to lv.280 already, seems like a waste of gold so far, but i would like some pro’s opinions! Thanks

It is very difficult to make money with crafting since there is so much competition.

It’s often more profitable to sell the raw materials than a final product. But there is potential for money making, just not a lot.

So no, it’s not worth leveling a crafting profession unless you want to make your own items.

pretty much summed up by Dee Jay. i think crafting is mainly for if you want to make a certain legendary which requires that gift. or if you want to craft yourself. i enjoy crafting but sometimes, even i get too lazy and just use TP or other means. :///

i’ve heard jewel you can net some profit, but even then, the costs aren’t exactly low either, especially now with rising prices of ectos and other T6 mats.

The single market TP is the most competitive hub in all MMOs due to sheer number of participants. Despite dropping player numbers it is still a magnitude of order bigger than even EVE’s Jita.

Can you make money by crafting high demand items? Sure, but literally each copper of efficiency will matter.

jewelry gives a great profit, compared to other classes.
i’ve found a recepi to get a nice +6silver each item when i buy all the materials from TP.

about weaponsmith; it’ll be more time cosumming to sell for profit. not all professions use all the weapons after all. some perfer a greatsword, with others use a dagger. some rather smash around with the mace, others use the hammer. the demand is too wide to clearly see what is more asked for.

ofcourse it’s worth to keep leveling it up, if you use one of those weapons yourself. but is it really worth to waste all those valuable materials for a new weapon every 5 levels?

keep this in mind; you keep more money in your pockets by selling the materials and buying the weapon in TP.

The best is jewelry, later on all kind of armor making. Good thing is that after some (in my opinion) smart moves that A-Net made, prices in AH are actually a little bit higher not only for mats but also for items that you craft. I’ve finished tailor and leather worker in 1 day from 0-400 using only stuff that I’ve dropped (sorry I spend like <1g). Selling all rares (I didnt make any exotics, I just wanted to level crafting to 400) for all possible levels (usually I created 5-6 rares per crafting level/mats tier) gave mi around 11-12gold. So if I would focus on things that give most money I would be able to make even more. So right now, when you grind and farm, when you mine and chop everything on your way you can actually make money from it.

If you plan on buying your crafting materials from the TP, no, leveling crafting to max isn’t worth it. Everything is too expensive right now and it ends up costing more to craft an item than what it will sell for on the TP in most cases. But there’s still money to be made if you gather/farm the materials yourself and either sell the raw material by itself or use it to craft rares and up. Learning gathering routes for materials you need is essential and does take a little time and coin if you tele.
