Hello all,

From what I have read people seem to think this is the only way to go. Is there any downside to the mystic salvage kits. Most of the time I am just using the lowest level ones to salvage blues and whites. then usually sell the greens and have been using BL kits for my rares and exo’s ( recently heard I should only BL the expensive rune items although this seems to be debated frequently).

Any info is much apprecaited

The Mystic kits require 3 stones from the cash shop and their main advantage is that they save space and time (250 uses vs 15 or 25)

The BL kits guarantee you keep an upgrade such as an expensive sigil or rune, beyond that, they are not worth the gold/gems for general salvage use in my opinion.

If you just want to break down a bunch of white/blue items, then the lower level kits should be fine, but I’m sure some people have done the math on the uses vs recovery rates, etc.

For rare items, I experience an 87-94% ecto recovery rate in lots of 1000 using the masters kits.

Thanks dream. I have had people tell me to use the bl for exto’s and then had others turn around and tell me it is no different from using the basic kit as far as the chance for ecto goes. Difference is chance for say rare metal back or the chance to retrieve the rune.

But if it takes real cash from me I will prob stick with the normal kits thanks

If you’re after ecto’s, any salvage kit will get results. i use the basic salvage kit (the lowest 25 stack one) and i get good results from it.

Once gems passed the 94.5s mark they stopped being worth it. Regular master kits are cheaper and yield same results. So no they haven’t been worth it for a while.

If you get mystic forge stones from daily (it happens. I’ve gotten it twice), then it’s worth it. If you want to buy them? don’t bother.

Mystic kits are no longer cheaper than Master kits? aww puppy. Haven’t had to replace mine for a while, though. Ohhh, I do still have the leftover stones. Those will keep me tided over for a while.
My strategy is to use basic kits on any salvageable/white/blue/green I salvage (I only salvage things I can’t sell for less than 40c), Mystic kits (or Master) to salvage rares, BL kits to salvage exotics and things where I need the socket.
Does ecto drop vary with what kit you use? it does seem you get less from Mystic kits oppose to BL kits. If that’s the cast, then lower kits should give even lower rates. BL kits gave me about 1.4 ecto/rare, Mystic kits seem to be about 1 ecto/rare. I had lots of BL kits saved up, used them on rares :P now they’re gone and I miss them.

I buy 40 master kits at a time and as I said, the average yield from level 80 rares is about 91% but each batch of 125 can see a lot of variation.

Some people have asked if the lower tier kits give the same yield – I just do not know and it could end up being very expensive to truly find out (2000+ salvages) so I stick with the master kits.

You will get bad streaks of 5-10 salvages with no ecto and it seems every other day there is someone posting a “did they just nerf the ecto salvage!?” thread on various forums.

The Devs have confirmed that DR does not affect salvage as well.

I ALWAYS use karma to buy crude salvage kit, from my experience it does perfectly fine for white/blue items.

I do notice that Master/Mystic salvage kit have a lower return on ectos compared to BL Kits.

Why not just buy the crude salvage kits that are so cheap at merchants? The WP cost to get to the karma vendor is expensive enough.

It’s an open question as to whether or not the crude kits salvage ecto as well as the masters. They probably do, but I’m not willing to risk the funds to make certain.

Ah but you see, that’s why people lose money. I am not going out of my way to wp, grab a kit then wp back, that’s just a stupid waste of copper. I know where most of the crude kits are any give place, I also know where the gathering tools are. Point is to make that trip but also knowing if an event is going on. MY favorite spot is Wayfarer’s Maw meta. I’ve gotten my guild members into that event so I basically will know when it starts, will start or end so I can time it well. A karma vendor right next to the wp sells my kit, do the events, grab a big chest box and then wp to my next destination or back to LA through the Mist. I just made over 5s from events alone while saving myself some copper for stuff I dont need to buy.

Yes, its cheap but having to keep buying it adds up.
