Jewelcraftings role in 400-500 tier
Up in the air at this point. I personally am hoping for the ability to make the current ones with jewel crafting. Whatever the deal will be with jewelery, I for one am just happy that my master crafter will be useful to me again.
We’ll craft different “sparkles” that are applied to armour and weapons to make them shiny.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Considering I have 6 characters all lv 80 and tired of running fractals.. (I have completed over 500 fractals..) I’m OPEN to the idea of just being able to craft the existing rings and not have to run fractals again… A new way to get amulets and necklace isn’t bad either.
Maybe we’ll get to make rings and earrings that have utility slots?
I would imagine that level 500 gems will be necessary for crafting Precusors. I doubt those recipes will be simple, they will probably involve several crafting cycles involving materials from several crafts as well as various collected materials.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
I would not mind just having a way to craft ascended accessories. I have refused to buy them from the laurel vendor because their exorbitant cost does not in any way justify the meager stat increase (50 ectos is nearly 10g, and 40 laurels is a significant opportunity cost since you’re throwing away the chance to buy high value t6 crafting mats and unidentified dyes).
I would assume
1) we’d be able to make the current (non infused) ascended rings/accessories/amulets
2) we’d be able to make (useful) infusions, something better than +5 <stat> (which makes me wonder if the armor/weapons will have infusion slots that can’t take AR resistance [since anet wants to keep a cap on the max AR])
I hope:
We would be able to make an already infused ring (relying on the rnd drops is somewhat annoying)

I have a feeling that crafting would only be slightly cheaper (but most likely take almost as much time) than buying it from the laurel merchant. Especially since we’ll have to get a whole new set of crafting mats to craft them.
The ability to craft back items would be a welcome addition to Jeweler.
there are still stat sets that can’t be obtained in ascended yet afaik? so perhaps we would have the ability to craft ascended stat sets of what we can currently craft?

I think jewelcrafting will be as relevant in asc tier as it is in exotic tier-especially if you have alts (which, unless you’re a kid and have a ton of free time, will most certainly not be fully decked out in even one set of asc trinkets let alone 2-3 sets for multiple builds). A simple benefit is it frees up laurels for infusions and dye packs and such, for example.
Tbh I’m more…worried/concerned/annoyed that I have to well…basically grind 800 levels in crafting (100 per discipline)…..again-w/t6 mats at that. That will not be cheap by any stretch of the imagination but still allows people who simply ‘lfg zerker war+mez ping gear no noobs super l33t pro run’ cof all day to pretty much buy their way to 500. Unless the level cap is increased to unlock those new skills and traits they mentioned I see no reason why crafting has to go through this heavy grind-the asc items are already time gated so there’s no need to further time gate the items behind increased crafting levels imo.
