Jeweller levelling tips?
discoveries are the way to go…at 19x it gave me about 2-3 levels for 1 discovery
Yes… focus on discoveries, and remember to use combinations with filigrees and gems they create better jewels and also count as discoveries.

What are discoveries?
I’ve been doing discoveries mainly so far I’m just wondering if there are even faster ways.
What level are you at in jewelcrafting that you’re having trouble?
I’m currently about 330 in jewelcrafting, and this is the first time I’ve slowed down once I broke 50. It’s so easy to level once you break 50 (that being the only point where you’ll have to make multiples of an item). I usually hit the next tier before I’ve discovered everything I could make.
Discovery is key. Make a few settings, bands, hooks, chains, and filigrees, and throw everything together in the discovery pane. You’ll find yourself progressing very quickly once you start doing that.
Getting past 50 is the tricky part, though. When you’ve just got copper to work with, you’ll be making quite a few multiples. Those I usually salvaged to get the copper back, as I had less copper than lower level jewels to work with.
Also, you can transmogrify your low-level stones into the next level up with dust, which helps greatly if jewels are what you’re running low on.
Good luck!

Yeh discoveries is the best, it gives huge amounts of exp too. You can gain 2 levels in seconds when crafting at high level
I’m pretty sure that discoveries are recipes that you find out for yourself by experimenting with different substances and materials in your inventory.
Also, I should point out – my jewelcrafter was level 3 when I started crafting with her, and she’s now level 14. I have done exactly two hearts and one story quest. Her leveling is entirely through crafting so far. You level a lot when you craft.
Discoveries are things you figure out by yourself by combining various things in the discovery pane – it’s the top tab in your crafting pane when you’re at a station.

This helped me A LOT when I was struggling with my jewel crafting.

I’m still low level but that’s definitely something I’ll bear in mind. I always try to reuse items unless I’m low on cash and can sell them for decent prices.
Leveling Jeweling is easy; Get about 250 ore of each tier, make settings, bands and hooks to discover rings and earrings until you can make filigrees. When you get to filigrees make enough filigrees to make 1 upgraded gem of every type of gem in that tier. Then make more settings, bands, hooks and chains to discover with those gems to get to the next tier of gems.
Remember that you can use Master’s Salvaging Kits to get back the gems in your crafted items if you find yourself needing more gems. It’s about 15 silver for 25 uses of this, and has an 80% chance of recovering the gem.
Hope this helps, happy hunting.

Keep in mind that discoveries follow a formula with the jeweler.
Band/Hook/Chain + Setting + gem/upgraded gem = item
and
filigree + gem = upgraded gem.
Keep in mind the metals and gems appropriate for your level. Note: I am currently at level 162 in my jeweler discipline.

It’s really handy but is something I think many people tend to overlook. I never did it much myself (I had an overabundance of jewels up until I started working with mithril) but now I try to transmogrify up as much as I can so I don’t have to buy jewels to work with.

Start a “tier” with a lot of mats and create all the base items you need. Ends up being like 28 total settings with 7 bands, hooks, chains, filigrees. You only get XP for those at the lower level of a tier and once you get past that you get nothing.
It does end up being kind of hard to maintain items close to your level but it beats having to create probably 3-4 extra items because you didn’t take advantage of the refining and base item xp.

I’m still only at 23 (I’m not much of a gamer so I end up slacking!) so hopefully this will help me level up a bit faster when I eventually get to that stage! Also, you can buy jewels? I assumed they were only discoverable by mining etc.

Trading post! :P Most are pretty cheap at the lower level side of things – certainly cheaper than most of the fine crafting materials that you need for other crafting professions tend to be.
The trading post will become your best friend if you get seriously into crafting.

Not sure if that would really be worth it.
Most created items sell to a vendor for 50c to 1.5s and you can get most gems for 1-2s (even at high levels, aside from Rubies since people love their DPS).
So you are spending 15s for about 20 gems (25 * 0.8).
Missing out on vendor cash of at a min of say 50c per item.
So you are spending at least 1.25s (15/20 + 0.5) in order to get a gem back plus maybe some ore which I think if often going to more expensive than buying the mats on the TP.
at what JC level do you quire the recipe to make Filigrees and Chains?
Here is a great guide that got me to 375 in about one hour. At the time it cost me about 3 gold.
ALL CREDIT GOES TO KOWZ FOR MAKING THIS GUIDE
Using this with a friend to get his JC to 400 and him to level 80 with a crafting booster tonight. This breaks it down very good and gives approximate numbers for each tier. Advice if you are using this is to get a crafting booster – it will increase your experience yield substantially and make things fly by. Convert 35 or so silver to gems and buy one, or if you’re lucky and got one off a chest. Try to get the materials together for all the tiers before you start so that you’ll at least make it to 375+ in the 1 hour.
I repeat, get a booster to go this route and you’ll be +10 levels in no time.
Copper Tier [1-75]
What you will need:
322 Copper Ore
4 Amber Pebble
4 Garnet Pebble
4 Turquoise Pebble
4 Malachite Pebble
4 Pearl
4 Tiger’s Eye Pebble
Ingots, Bands, Hooks, Settings
Step 1 – Craft 161 Copper Ingots
Step 2-4 – Craft 7 Copper Bands, 7 Copper Hooks, 28 Copper Settings (Order doesn’t matter here.)
Rings
Step 5-7 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Band, Copper Setting, and Amber/Garnet/Turquoise Pebble
Step 8-10 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Band, Copper Setting, and Malachite/Pearl/Tiger’s Eye Pebble
Earrings
Step 11-13 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Hook, Copper Setting, and Amber/Garnet/Turquoise Pebble
Step 14-16 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Hook, Copper Setting, and Malachite/Pearl/Tiger’s Eye Pebble
Filigrees*** (usually you make this after basic necklaces, but with a crafting booster, you should make the filigrees first, due to the xp-drop off limit.)
Step 17 – Craft 7 Copper Filigrees
Step 18-20 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Filigree and Amber/Garnet/Turquoise Pebble
Step 21-23 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Filigree and Malachite/Pearl/Tiger’s Eye Pebble
Necklaces
Step 24-26 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Chain, Copper Setting, and Amber/Garnet/Turquoise Pebble
Step 27-29 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Chain, Copper Setting, and Malachite/Pearl/Tiger’s Eye Pebble
Necklaces (Masterwork)
Step 30-32 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Chain, Copper Setting, Adorned Amber/Garnet/Turquoise
Step 33-35 – DISCOVERY – Use Copper Chain, Copper Setting, Adorned Malachite, Pearl, Tiger’s Eye
Silver (Nuggets), Gold (Lumps), Platinum (Shards), & Mithril (Crystal) all follow this same pattern.

Did you use a booster? Highest XP I received is 19K for a discovery, so I guess I’m doing something wrong.
Jewelry is so easy to level up that it feels almost broken at the moment. For the first part (25 level range), refine ingots and make hooks, bands and settings. For the second part, craft filigrees and discover filigreed gem of each type. Craft a second filigreed gem as well, to get 2 of each type. For the third part, combine the filigreed gems with hooks, bands and settings to make masterwork rings and earrings. Tier done, repeat with the next one. My jeweler leveled from 0 to 375 in one sitting, and the only thing that prevented maxing the discipline was that the character was fresh out of the tutorial and didn’t have any karma to buy a level 375 rare recipe.
