Legendaries: Sigilswapping
You could make this argument for any any weapon (ascended, normal exotic, named exotic, MF named exotic, even rare when the sigil is worth more than the weapon). Legendaries already have special treatment that they can change stats out of combat, I don’t think they don’t need another “edge” to them.
i spent so much time and gold on it, its ridiculous i have to make another ascended or so for alternative builds.

And the named exotics that cost 100 lodestones don’t cost a lot?
The people that are still trying to scrape together enough money for their first ascended, isn’t that a lot to them?
Be happy that you can even change your stats, otherwise (like in the past) you’d have to get more transmutation stones and a level 80 exotic each time you wanted to change play styles.
My point is, if they include that, it should be on all weapons (or just account bound). But, that (and even your suggestion) would make the sigil market be worthless.
As it stands at least some sigils have some value. If you want to constantly change then it’s better for the market that you have to keep buying more sigils.
Named exotics don’t cost anywhere in the ballpark of legendaries. I have both. I know.
And adding this ‘feature’ to just legendaries would not kill the sigil market. Adding to all weapons, however, would.
The sigil is a very important part of the weapon and a build and this feature would be nice to have. Another extra bonus incentive to having a legendary.
That being said, I don’t think legendaries NEED them. I just think this is a decent idea.

I’m familiar with those two high end named exotics. They still aren’t in the ballpark of legendary costs.
Even if it were a fee, like paying to reset traits, it would be a nice feature. Or place a “sigil swap” feature, where you can place two sigils on a weapon and swap them out of combat, but replacing them destroys the sigil (a feature that could be placed on all exotics, ascended, and legendaries). Some of those sigils cost enough that I wouldn’t want to constantly buy the same ones.

Most sigils are worthless(well actual value is vendor+1 so not literally worthless…) anyway but they are worthless because they are terrible.
As for the “problem” I always figured they would just add in some sort of “legendary sigil”.
Anet gives you a mile and you still ask for another foot. Buy an exotic, I’m sure you’ll live with 6% less stats.

I will come back later and try to add together the total current cost of crafting the cheapest legendary
i find this argumentation laughable.
1. you choose the cheapest legendary
and
2. you compare it to the most expensive exotic
it’s like comparing string cheese to an hermes bag; it doesn’t make sense at all. none!
if you want an apples to apples comparison, let’s do this instead:
juggernaut vs mjolnir+ascended hammer(stats of your choice)
the cost of an exotic skin does not even come CLOSE to a legendary.
[edit]
i take that back. you chose the second cheapest legendary-by 55g. lol.

I don’t understand what you are trying to say to him. Are you mad that he got prices off the TP to compare an expensive named exotic to an inexpensive Legendary and the Legendary was still more expensive?
There are all kinds of “named exotics” that are WAYYY cheaper than the one posted. And there are all kinds of Legendary weapons that are WayWAY*WAY* more expensive (Eternity, I’m looking at you), so what’s your point, exactly?
The very fact that ANet has already said that they want Lgnd weapons to be Best In Slot always leads me to think that they are supposed to be Capstone Weapons, and therefore, should have access to some limited swapping re: sigils.
Heck, I don’t even have one, but the time, effort and money that goes into legendary creation should benefit the holder at least through some type of ooc sigil swapping.
I personally think an easier solution would be to have a sigil slot in the equipment pane of the Hero interface, allowing people to drop in a sigil for each weapon, and then being able to swap them out when not in combat just like weapons.
This would fix the stacking sigil problem, fix the Legendary sigil issue raised here, and provide a way of bringing extremely high sigil prices down, when they leave the meta.
Once we have legendary armor available, it may be worth revisiting runes as addenda to armor as well, with slots that could be used to hold runes, and then the breather wouldn’t be a 7th rune, and jerry-rigging a 2×4x rune set or a 2×2×2x swap set wouldn’t require multiple full sets of armor because the crit damage bonus was a higher percentage of over all stats on certain key pieces. (I could explain this further, but it would require charts).
This would render the un-transmuter thing only useful for armor aesthetics, but that was the implicit promise from the inception of the game, that there was no gem story pay to win; yet here we are with power creep, perhaps these changes would be a way to minimize the impact on mid-tier players.

Mjolnir or other expensive exotics do not require map completion, badges, dungeon tokens etc. You’re argument is incredibly dumb.
Legendaries should be ‘special’, stat-swapping is good enough, wouldn’t say no to sigil-swapping.

Of course I am making the most extreme example to make a point that the difference in price is maybe not as much as you thought for all legendaries, I believe that if I was to actually calculate out the cost of the legendary frenzy with all of its components it will probably be quite a bit more expensive than the 1000g price tag on the trading post at the moment. Also if percursors become craftable their is definitely the possibility that some legendaries may cost less then certain exotics such as the moljnir. I also would personally like the option to have legendary sigils that you could swap to whatever when out of combat as I currently own a legendary (FSP), but I feel that before sigil swapping is added all attributes need to be added to the list for attribute switching (ex. currently givers stats are not on legendaries as a choice.)
Edit: after finishing calculations I was wrong and the cost of frenzy if crafted is less then the highest buy offer.

my first example that was quote where the legendary would’ve been bought directly off the trading post when it would be 1000g rather than 950g(crafted) is not dumb at all as it would not require any of those things if bought off the TP just the 1000g which happens to be just 180g~ more than the price would be to craft Mjolnir. please fully read the comparison before calling it dumb as by not reading correctly you will only make yourself look the fool rather than what you are trying to ridicule.
