Legendaries...are they worth it?
Unless you like the look of the legendary you’d want to go for I’d say no. As of now they have the same stats as exotics- this has been stated to change once ascended weapons come out but I doubt they’d be more tedious to get than a legendary. You won’t lose anything by not getting one, it’s more for looks and a long term goal if one chooses to pursue it. I’m working on the Quip after getting The Predator myself, but overall the process can be kinda long, requires a fair bit of gold depending on how you come about things but overall the message is that if you like the look, I’d say start saving/working towards it but if not, you don’t lose anything by not having one.
Since you’re almost going to hit 80, I think you’re jumping the gun too quick for legendaries.
Max out your gear in ascended/exotics, get some experience in WvW, dungeons, get good skins…
Then when you get the hang out of end-game, you can decide to pursue one. For the average player it’s a long-term goal, so don’t expect to get one right away.

No, I don’t expect to get one for a while. That’s why I asked. Is it worth the time and work to get it? I’m only at 56% map completion at the moment.
If you like the look of one, try to save mats and other things slowly, while at the same time making your gear the best as you can, as someone already told. It is not worth it if you want stats to get them, only looks make them unique. And if you do not like any of them wait for new ones or another high end weapons
Honest answer? No. Doesn’t worth the hassle and the huge time and resources spent. If one day price will be doable and you have the money for buy one from tp, buy it.
Loads have one, you will not be unique, nor admired at all.
This is one of those questions that no one really can answer for you.
Me for example. I can only play about 12 hours a week, sometimes 15 hours. I am going after Twilight.
I still need 100% Map(at 50%), 450 badges and the precursor (Dusk). I have enough gold to buy my lodestones/runestones/T6 mats I need(Maxed on 3, 150+ on the rest) and have armor/weaponsmith to 400. Buying the mats I need would pretty much make me broke, meaning if they don’t implement the scavenger hunt this year I would have another4-6 months of grind for gold for the kitten precursor. I really really like the the way Twilight looks.
So for me…it is worth it.

I say yes. The effort it takes to put into making a legendary is worth it since if you look at it, it will be best in slot for as long as this game is alive. So once you get it done, you are set. Never need to worry about a main weapon again and you can focus on ascended gear as they come out. The flip side to em is they are a lot of work.
Am I legendary yet!?
Until new legendaries are out, and you will regret how much money, lifetime, and sadness it took , when new legendaries will rock, and way better (and maybe easier to craft)
Like others have already said, it’s probably not worth it.
1) You have to like the visual appearance of your Legendary item.
2) You have to like the forced +stat combinations of Power/Vitality/Toughness.
3) You have to get a Precusor weapon, which will average around 400-700 Gold (depending on the specific Precusor).
The only real benefit is that their Base Damage spread will automatically upgrade itself whenever ArenaNet releases Ascended Weapons or other such items in the future. So in essence, a Legendary is costing you an insane amount of time and resources right now. Yet this investment will save you an unknown amount of time and resources for each weapon upgrade that ArenaNet releases.
I don’t like the enforced +stats on the weapons and I don’t like the Legendary appearance graphics for my current characters. Therefore I consider them to be a collosal waste since ArenaNet intentionally designed them to be money sinks for the game’s economy.
Indeed, they look epic, but for stats? No. I am happy with my Dhuumseal and it looks very good aswell on my warrior. But I would not buy one, I would make one when I did everything in the game. So for me it is a no. Exotics do have the same stats and so there even better, since I am damage based.
