I’m working on making a legendary for myself and have found the materials needed to make it too be way too much someone should tell the dev’s to lower the numbers of materials for these items no mmo i have ever played used these kind of numbers of materials for making legendaries.

I’ve been working for awhile on this project i just got my crafting skills to 400 each Leatherworking & Huntsman and i looked up what i need to make myself a longbow

maybe the problem is on my end i’m not very good at making money but still does anyone else see that this is extremely difficult for one person to pull off ?.

The amount of resources you need to craft a legendary weapon is beyond ridiculous. The drop rate of T6 materials is abysmal, the precursors are a lottery or extremely expensive on the TP. If you gonna grind for the materials, it will take more than a year i think, to gather all the resources and you will need to count with luck for the precursor or spend a lot of gold (500 or more) for the precursor in the TP.

And yes, it is hard to make money in this game.

But thats why they call it, “Legendary”

I’m at about 65% toward’s finishing Kudzu myself. Legendary’s are supposed to be an optional grind, as they are no more powerful than exotic’s. Been working on it for the last 6-7 month’s. It’ll be a long road but well worth it imho.

I did enjoy the completion parts of forging a legendary, but unfortunately now I am stuck trying to acquire the rest of the t6 mats and the precursor. I refuse to buy any parts off the trading post so between the 3 t6 mats I pick up every day and the invisible precursor, i’ve hit this massive wall only luck will bring me out of.

Progress is the key word for any sort of thing like this. “Progress” is what people want to feel while working toward something so legendary. Even though it’s very hard to obtain and takes a lot of time at the least we do want to feel like we’re accumulating something that we can stockpile and go toward it. Currently with t6 mats and the precursor, those pieces hardly even come in.

It’s supposed to be cost prohibitive so that only those who truly want it can get it. I can’t seem to find the quote, but the developers said (around release if not before) that legendaries were supposed to take months and months to complete, to show that you were a “dedicated” player. Considering you can just buy them off the TP after using a credit card for gold, it kind of defeats that idea, but I digress…

If you planned on getting it in a week or two, you’d have to be insanely lucky and/or whip out a credit card to buy gems for gold to buy the parts. It’s a long term project, and I suggest you don’t solely focus on one part at a time or you will burn yourself out like I almost did. I’m about 2/3 of the way to Bifrost (minus precursor ofc) and I have yet to run CoF or take part in any of the short term (arguably exploiting) farms that have come and gone.

Before the farming nerfs Legendary acquisition was too easy.

Now that it’s hard for the average player to make money, Legendary is too hard.

I feel bad for you guys who are starting their quests now.

There is no way in hell you’ll be able to catch up with those who have been playing since release.

well my problem is i just made the gift of wood and feel like i’m commited to continuing this kitten project i started however i also remembered to buy all the exotic inscriptions for both professions and made myself my first exotic shortbow and was thinking maybe i should screw making a legendary just make my longbow instead the same way besides both long & short bow legendaries seem kinda i dunno the word for it….gay ? shortbow shoots rainbows & unicorns and longbow you walk around and makes a path of flowers/grass on the ground who in the hell came up with this stuff ?.

i personally owned 3 legendaries : incinerator , dreamer and frostfang
to be honest , with maximized grind fest , it takes around 250~300 hours for each legendary (pure grind) .

the first i made was dreamer , and by that time i was completely no clue of efficient farming and it took me 700hours to finish it. Then i learn some way to decrease the farming time and made 2nd and 3rd legendary. In fact , legendary are meant for people who “dedicated” to the game, and once you make your first legendary , the following process of 2nd and 3rd will be much more easier since you always leftover material from the previous one. getting gilded infusion and always equip with omnomberry bars always help to boost your income.

You can buy rares and toss them in the mystic forge (I’m on a feedback loop, pushing in items, getting exotics, selling those exotics which lets me buy more items (I at least break even))… so yeah…

It’s too late to alter how Legendaries are obtained – at least not with the current ones, but potentially with the confirmed future ones.

Nobody is asking you to farm the 250 T6 materials, or get ~481 Ectos yourself, or get your specific precursor as a drop. The TP is there for a reason – sell what you don’t need, buy what you do.

As for the precursor, I’ve never understood the whole mystic forge thing. If you could expect to get, say Dusk, in 200g, the precursor wouldn’t be the price it is now. Granted I refuse to try, as the precursors I have “needed” have all been “cheap” in comparison and clearly not worth the gamble.

lol. Gift of Kudzu its the cheaper one i’ve ever seen. No lodes, no 2 stacks of dusts, no 250 Unidenti dyes… no T6 Orbs. Dang… I would be happy if Gift of bifrost is cheaper alike this.

I’m fine with the ammount of mats for legendarys, Not happy with the dang way to get precursors. >_>

Can’t be luck the way to be legendary.

Those bows are ridiculous, even if you could make your character look like a kid, and for those who have a male ranger, i’m pretty sure they wouldn’t like to use a pink bow with a unicorn that shoots rainbows (unless they are gay, but not everyone is gay, yes, there are straight males in this world, if you are not familiar with this). Some Legendary skins are beyond ridiculous/pathetic, like The Moot, for me, that one is a kittening bad joke to the players.

I´ve been playing GW2 since the pre-order headstart and decided about 6 month ago i want a legendary. From this moment on i saved up every ecto and t6 mat i got during fractals, wvsw, dungeons etc. because i wanted to play the game “the fun way”. About 1 month ago i had Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery and Gift of Twilight and only the precourser missing.
Some guild mates were stuck on the same progress of there legendary. We decided to throw 625g togheter and put 2150 rare greatswords (all self crafted) into the mystic forge, from this we got 2 Dusk and exotic greatswords worth ~200g. From this point on we startet farming CoF p1 together and placed the money on our guild bank. Every time we hit enough gold we bought another precourser from the TP.
Right now we all have our legendarys and about 500g left to farm to even up the money each one of us has received.

U guys should stop complaining about the costs of a legendary, only cause it looks that mutch on the first view. Its a long term goal if u dont have 1k+ gold safed up from playing the TP but it´s doable. Maybe u should think about doing it as a group goal like we did, that makes it more enjoyable.

Haha Hamonavn got pwnd! And I agree, they are ridicilous!
They should atleast be something awesome like fire, arcane power or some else that inspires awe and legendary status! Just like eternity and Sunrise, bolt, Frostfang and more. But the rainbow once are overkill! I think most caster class people want something that is also lightning themed or water themed, etc. Maybe a legendary for necros which is death themed.

Do you know how hard is to find a friendly guild in this game? Also if you don’t have any friends or you’re not part of some specific group in the guild, FORGET about getting help. I’ve been in 2 large guilds, and every time i need something, no one is ever available to help me, but i see a lot of others members asking for help and getting helped.

I’ve been in 2 large guilds, and every time i need something, no one is ever available to help me, but i see a lot of others members asking for help and getting helped.

This is an issue i know… i have played many mmos and one thing i learned is not the big guilds grant u help, the small ones do. My actuall guild has 5-15 people online at a time, and we all know eatch other, normaly one asks for help xy and the others help until everyone got what he needs.

What i tried to say OT u should not see the legendery as a single player goal with all ur attention on it. You only have the save the mats u get by playing, and think about other ways than doing it all on your own.
