Does anyone know of a way of getting different stats on the legendary items without breaking the legendary status? I am in the process of making the rifle, but would rather keep the berserker stats on it instead of having the soldier’s stats.

ANet, are you going to allow us to choose the stats on our legendary weapons?

you can transmute legendary look onto another exotic’s stats. I’ve read it will retain the look, but say ‘Transmuted’ instead of ‘Legendary’. I read that this was a bug, but I haven’t heard if they fixed it or not.

Not yet, but Mystic is right, it’s a bug and they’re working to fix it, but it seems to be low priority.

There is no such a way a.t.m.

ANet, are you going to allow us to choose the stats on our legendary weapons?

Obviously ANet isn’t going this way. The latest official answer from them was “we currently have a programmer looking through the issue”.

I think they will change transmutation process a bit to avoid such situations in future. Currently the rarity of output item is based on it’s stats. So if you transmutate stats from exotic, the item will be exotic. A simple fix they can do is to keep highest rarity.

Also I doubt they will fix already transmutated legendaries automatically. It will be probably done by player request through support.

I’m thinking about crafting a legendary myself but using it would actually lower my characters strength since I’d have to transmute it in order to play my character to its full capacity. So collecting all these materials kinda becomes unrewarding, especially with the ascended weapons coming up. And it wouldn’t be easy to change the transmutation system just for legendaries. Otherwise people could just transmute a low level exotic item with a max-lvl white item and gain a lvl 80 exotic which would drastically lower the value of any exotic item out there.

My question is: Wouldn’t it be best if you could just define your legendary weapon’s stats during the crafting process? Like creating different crafting ingredients that are for legendaries only and that define the stats of the final object? For example one could add an additional step during the crafting of the respective gift.

Players who created their legendary before that could possibly contact the support and ask for an exchange, providing detailed information of the stat combination required. (which would ofc be limited to the available ones).
