Long Questions:

First off let me just say this is a serious question. Take away whether or not you buy it or you crafted it.

Here is why I ask. During the initial Southsun Cove event i was fortunate enough to get a precursor for the Warhorn. Sadly though, I skinned over it, and at the time that meant i lost it all together. (not sure if its still the same) Ever since then i have been the most unluckiest person, at least in my opinion. Many hours farming events, bosses, and countless amounts of gold dumped into the Mystic forge, and countless cash>gems>gold>mats to get gear that was competitive. I am unpatient, and farming for hours on end to get the gear to compete is not something I am too interested in.

One day, I wasn’t so unlucky. Funny part was I bought about 100 or so short bows, and got The Lover on the first 4 I put in. So before i did anything rash like sell it or equip it, i put it away in the bank and tried to forget about it.

Keep in mind that ascended wasn’t there in the beginning. You just needed exotics to have the top gear. Now is not the case. And don’t get me wrong, a player in exotics can beat a player in full ascended, there isn’t that much of a difference. However, against equally skilled players, those extra stats are nice to have.

There are 2 key points to legendary weapons, that I am aware of. The skin of course, and the fact that they will always be the best weapons you can get. So they were once equal to exotics, and now they are equal to ascended. So when ascended came out, those who had the mighty purple weapons were safe, they just got buffed to top stats.

So are they worth getting?

Short Question(s):
Are they worth getting?(crafting or buying doesn’t matter)
Other than skins and guaranteed top tier, are there any other benefits?
Will we see any more tiers of weapons?

If you like the look/effects.
Another benefit would be that you can change/switch the stats out of combat.
Personally I would not expect another tier any time soon, but there are literally no guarantees.

I did not know about switching stats…awesome. I suppose now the question is whether or not I can find a build that would make good use of it.

They are pretty and you get to feel very majestic running around with all the other people who have them.

It’s funny that you consider two drops in your account lifetime “unlucky”. Two more than I’ve had. I’ve said that if I make a third legendary I’ll wait for a drop, but I expect that statement to go down in history along with “pfft legendaries who needs them” and “more than one? Nah.” I was really surprised how much I enjoyed having them and the shine hasn’t really worn off months later. Right before equipping I thought I would regret it (both times) but I didn’t and don’t. So that’s the big benefit for me, shiny, fun, nice to have.

Yea i get that whole “having something most ppl dont”. And as far as the skins go, I just wish there was more options. As a ranger who favors bows(long and short), they dont feel very “manly”. Although kill other players with unicorns would be fun!

The simple answer, imo, is; no, they are not worth it …

As skins, the look is entirely subjective.
Personally, I find the skins meh to ugly and the effects annoying. I prefer the skins you get from MF recipes, i.e. Infinite Light, Vision of the Mist, etc.

As for BiS, most definitely not.
Apart from higher level fractals, exotic weapons are more than enough to successfully complete all the other content. As for changing stats, most players run with 1 or 2 stat variations for the particular content they run. It is still much cheaper to have multiple exotic weapons sets for your class than 1 legendary.

Unless you like the particular skin, then no not really. Stat changing is nice but I think I’ve changed stats on the 6 legendaries I’ve made probably about 1 time.

For being BiS, it is worth it depending how soon Anet is gonna release the next grind for the next tier of weapons as legendaries will always be bumped up to the top tier as new tiers are released.

Bottom line is if you are bored, want to grind and like a skin, sure go for it. Like I said I made 6 legendaries simply because those 6 were the skins/effects I wanted and I was bored enough to grind em out.

I really really don’t get these posts, “are they worth it?”. If you like the skin or want a weapon that can change stats as often as you’d like, then yes. I have two legendaries and am on my way for a third, it is very much worth it to me because I enjoy the skins. However, if you only look at stats, then the obvious answer is no and you should just make an ascended weapon.
