So the legendaries will get ascended stats once ascended weapons are released. Will the legendaries still be upgraded to ascended stats if you’ve transmuted it?

Hello, I don’t think it will get the ascended stats (been searching for information on this topic, since no one wants to “waste” their legendary). From what I’ve seen on a thread, the item will lose the Legendary status and it won’t upgrade.

They’ve fixed that, I believe. Whenever you transmute your legendary onto another exotic you keep the purple legendary name, but it does say transmuted.

The exotic name thing was fixed ages ago, but I doubt the transmuted legendaries will get ascended stats.

@Ghost That thread you posted is from october, and no longer holds any true value. Many of the bugs with transmuting legendary weapons has been fixed since then.

@OP There have been dozens and dozens of threads asking this exact same question, and we have never gotten any official response from Anet on the matter. It’s my opinion that Anet is morally obligated to upgrade all legendary weapons (transmuted or not), but whether they do or not is unclear.

So in short, stop re-asking old questions since Anet is obviously not going to respond, and just wait till ascended weapons are in fact released (which I doubt is anytime soon).

Iirc, for a short period of time (a day or two), legendaries had the slight stat boost over exotics. I guess this is the level of ascended weapons. However, they quickly reverted the stats back to exotic level.

So guys, is it worth it if i were to transmute my legendary now? to an exotic stats. or should i wait?

So, you’re advocating keeping the PVT stats on the legendary; waiting for those PVT stats to be upgraded to Ascended PVT stats instead of Exotic PVT stats; and then, and only then, transmuting to non-PVT Ascended stats? If you already have to transmute to non-PVT Ascended stats, why not go ahead and transmute to non-PVT Exotic stats in the mean time?

Ascended weapons have not been released yet. I can’t be more clear about my statement in previous post. Read it carefully to understand what I mean. No transmutation on legendary it just destroy it even if you keep seeing its skin with a purple name.

what you ask exactly?

Legendary can be transmuted with the highest tier in game. Atm it’s exotic. But transmuting it will lock your transmuted item on the exotic tier and will no longer consider it as a proper legendary item.
When ascended weapons will be implemented you won’t be able to transmute it with the new tier ascended because your weapon is no more considered as a proper legendary. Its stats will remains the same but you ll be able to transmute it still only with exotics as it is its coding class now: you shall call it forever a transmuted legendary with an exotic weapon class coding.
If you keep your legendary with no modification it ll be possible to you to transmuted it with the new higher weapon tier ascended and then it ll consider it forever as a transmuted legendary with an ascended weapon class coding.
This is why when new weapon tier will come out it will be a large issue for many people who transmuted their legendary. Moreover even when ascended weapons will come out I will still not transmute my legendaries because it have been stated it will always be upgraded to be on par with higher tier weapons AND will scale its level up in case of cap level increase. Transmuting legendary is basicly like renouncing to any future upgrade on it. At least when people will complain they won’t be able to say that it wasn’t written any warning on forum.

So the answer to your question about this thread Haowk is NO (unless Anet fix the issue before releasing ascended weapons)

Well if you own transmuted legendary it means that it wont upgrade in stats but if you grind for the same type of weapon ascended stats to use its coding to add to legendary skin with a transmutation crystal I believe it should work if Anet is not forgetting to manage this feature.

So, since you’re already going to have to grind for an ascended weapon with non-PVT stats anyway, there’s no reason not to transmute now. . .

This can be proven when u put a transmuted twilight or sunrise on the forge, the button forge, will be grey out. This means that the game does not recognize the weapon when its ady transmuted.

I do hope ANet correct this bug soon, as its on going for like 6 months, if not more…

If your ultimate goal is to have the skin of a legendary and the best stats in the game, transmute it now, and you’ll need to transmute it again when a new tier is released. Don’t hope to benefit from any other automatic upgrade they would grant to your legendary though.

What I mean is, if they were to add a significant other to your legendary (as it is now with Twilight and Dawn), you can be pretty sure your transmuted version won’t work.

Sure, they aren’t considered legendary by the game if you transmute them, but that has absolutely no impact on whether of not you’ll be able to re-transmute a transmuted legendary onto ascended stats.

So even if a transmuted legendary weapon won’t be instantly upgraded to ascended when ascended weapons are released, there’s nothing stopping you from re-transmute it to the ascended version of your desired stats.

The only reason to transmutate a legendary weapon is so all your characters can use it right? why can’t anet just make them all account bound instead….take them off the trading house and gold wont inflate either. killing two birds with one stone.

The main reason to transmute a legendary weapon is to give it the right stats (since all legendaries are PVT by default).

But I do agree legendaries should be account or soulbound on creation.
