Legendarys are over the top
We should all have the ability to get one if we choose to. That is all I care about a fair and equitable way to obtain that type of weapon. The RNG and Paypal didnt do that so hopefully something else will be added.
As to the casual vs farmer – that will be your choice to not play with friends and farm for it instead.
As long as you are offered a fair shot at one there is no need to complain, cause frankly in the end the casual player can just buy one. It disgusts me that it can be that way but anet needs the money. 1000usd for non GS legendary buy using Anets gems.
Strictly my opinion here – no disrespect or flaming intended. I realize it’s easy to ‘sound’ abrasive since it’s hard to get ‘tone’ out of text, but understand this is not my intention here.
It is of my view that (and i really hate this term, BTW) the sense of ‘entitlement’ seems to be coming from some (not all) folks who want one and don’t want to work for it. There are plenty of players that are using their time working towards theirs, regardless of difficulty, time constraints, RNG factors on certain items ,etc. and are not wasting that same time & effort complaining on forums. Instead, changing ‘work’ for some other term like ‘luck’ or ‘RNG’ to diminish the perceived difficulty and make themselves feel better it and gather support is simply rubbish crying. Yes it’s hard, we know. Next.
Everyone wants one. Why? Because their scarcity & difficulty make them desirable. If everyone gets to have one and you see them all day strapped on people’s backs at Lion’s Arch, no one would care to want one, no reason to even have Legendaries in the first place. If you don’t want to spend your time doing this particular set of quests in the game (and really that’s all it boils down to) then simply don’t. There are plenty of other awesome and very unique weapons (and Armor) that can be achieved, crafted, found or forged that in some ways rival some of the Legendaries.. so there are options.
Fact is, they aren’t ‘Average’ weapons, they’re ‘Legendary’. Period. You don’t just get a rockstar job, car, fake prestigious in-game item (or anything else for that matter) by simply asking for it, you grind till you get it, persistence & dedication (or a pocketful of change). Luck is involved in almost everything we do anyway. ‘Fair’ is different for everybody, and most things in life aren’t fair to begin with, so please lets refrain from making that an issue and focus on the actual work. I’m sure you’ve also encountered plenty of folks who work hard at things and never achieve recognition, status, etc. both in real world things and in game-related quests (hence the reason for this topic in the first place). Besides, the time spent on acquiring a Legendary is time spent playing the game you’re playing ANYWAY. And what’s wrong with playing a game you enjoy even more? It’s a goal like any other, just not a straightforward go-here-kill-this accomplishment. You think you have it hard? What about the first folks who had to figure out the recipes in the first place.. how much do you you think they spent in the throwing who knows what insane kind of money & items at the forge to get help other people get a easy-to-follow list and they STILL complain it’s not given to them on a platter just for gracing the game with their presence. Sorry, but I’ve never seen a game or race that ever congratulates & prizes the complainers, only those who have achieved & accomplished. Get online and play more – it’s more fun! You may even find some folks who will help you on your quest.

This. No offense, but more people need to earn their rewards not ask for it to be easier. I’m not gonna go to college pay tuition and tell the university that I’m an average student who doesn’t spend his time in classes all the time to be on the dean’s list because I “bought” my education so I must be rewarded with everything it has to offer. Studying sucks, hw sucks, exams/papers suck, but we have to do it to get that recognition. And yes, sometimes it’s luck because you could always get that one professor that gives you Cs, Ds, and Fs, for throwing whatever valuable effort you put into your assignments.

1. You picked the most expensive legendary to make.
2. You’re showing sell prices only, and all of those prices are higher than average for those items.
3. You’re assuming that everything that can be bought is bought through the trading post, and none ever drop for you.
4. 330 hours in an MMO is completely normal. Legendary weapons are supposed to be some of the most prestigious things in the game, which should require a certain level of dedication. Even if it takes 330 hours to get one, that can be achieved in 4-5 months playing 2-3 hours/day.
And if they’re so impossible to get, then why do a bunch of people already have them?

Here’s a simple solution that everyone should be able to agree on: let achievement points go towards legendary components or legendaries themselves. That way you could actually work towards a legendary by actually enjoying and participating in all facets of the game and not just mindlessly grinding, playing the TP, or exploiting.
Then people would find a way to exploit achievemnt completition. They would look at the entire list of achievements, see which one give the best points gain/time spent ratio, and abuse said achievement as much as possible. Also keep in mind that the amount of achievement points a casual player is going to make per day is very limited – many of the refreshing ones require a lot of time spent grinding.
everything will be exploited its an online game….
look at plinx for example.
Plinx isn’t “exploited” it’s just a farming chain. Events are meant to be done, and people do them, working as intended.
This topic is stupid… I agree precursors are the problem. However the mats needed to craft the gifts for the legendaries are not, it’s called a legendary and it takes time to aquire. Anet is not going to make it cheap and easy for some one to get it asap, put time and effort into crafting your legendary. If it was cheap and easy everyone would have one, so quit complaining. If you don’t like the amount of mats it needs to craft the legendary don’t do it.
You are forgot one thing. Legendaries has nothing to do with story or endgame. They are just awesome looking weapons which are kitten expensive. You are acting like if they were some big part of story line or like everyone should have one. NO
That argument is no longer true. Legendaries have been announced to always be “top-tier”, adjusted statwise with each new item iteration – therefore, they are a must for anyone that wants to avoid eq treadmill. To avoid a feature we’ve been promised won’t ever be in this game.
With one badly thought-out update legendaries from vanity items moved into a required eq group.

That’s where I stopped reading, nothing written by someone using a hash-tag (or yolo for that matter) on a forum could possibly be worth my time.
I was wondering if OP understands that making a legendary is and undertaking, of which should and probably will take an exorbitant amount of time.
It is a goal you set for your self with the motivation that you are getting something amazing.
Yes, it is unfair that people use exploitive means to get thiers faster but I like to think that when I’ve played for a year (a decent amount of hours each day), setting aside what I’ve earned (supplies, money) and make the parts I need, then finaly put together my Minstrel, I will feel satisfied. Sort of a back burner project.
I understand that for most people, making a legendary is something they focus on as a project then and there, spending in game time focused on getting whatever it is they need on the massive list of ingredients.
For those people I can offer no condolenses or suggestions. I just don’t have any. And I do understand that exploitation does need to stop, but how and when is up to Arena Net to decide. (It IS thier game)
I suppose I am just a very passive and tolerant person…
The only thing I think Anet should have done is left off that big gaping hole in the character select screen that reminds the 95% they will never fill it.
If it was out of sight out of mind, most wouldn’t be here complaining.
If it was out of sight out of mind, most wouldn’t be here complaining.
Not anymore. They are required eq now, unless you want to keep grinding to stay in the same place on eq treadmill.

Looks like people soon won’t have as much opportunity to complain about precursors:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
Specifically:
“We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently.”
3rd paragraph under the ehading “The future or item progression”
Of course, then the scavenger hunt is going to be too hard or too expensive or too something
(No, i don’t have my precursor – yet)

Anyone else out there like me and figure you’ll have a legendary after about 1 1/2 to 2 years of game play, and you’re OK with that? Because I am. As it stands my opinion is a legendary is a symbols of a player’s dedication to GW. If you love GW and that’s all you play, here’s your legendary. If not, no legendary for you.
In my opinion, i think anet should raise the drop rate of the crafting materials (slightly) so that people who dont want to grind dont have too. Also i think that the legendaries (although they look OUTSTANDING!!!!) should have additional effects. i know that they got sigils and stuff but other than a couple moving pieces, cool foot prints, and some copies of the blade being flung everywhere (sunrise, twilight, and eternity are the only ones) i think thats all people are getting. I think that they should be able to have double or triple cross profession combos so or at least make a visual effect when a cross profession combo happens like if there is a warrior with the juggernaut (legendary hammer) who stomps on frozen ground, maybe have the quicksilver splash everywhere as well as the frozen ground? just a thought to make the legendaries more…. unique

Pretty much, when I have 150M karma or whatever it takes and I still want it, then I’ll go get it. I don’t need to farm 10k/hr 10k per day will do.
The “need everything now moar moar” attitude is going to cause Anet to make Legendaries freebies for passing your second month eventually, very unfortunate. (Dont have a legendary and dont aspire one currently, but I like how they are expensive enough to retain the status symbol effect they should have).
I agree legendary requirements are a bit of a joke. So bad in fact it just feels pointless trying.
If you think getting a legendary weapon takes a lot of effort, try getting the God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals title.

no kidding. Now the mats price have gone up, the whiners who got their wish with Anet promise easier way to get precursors are at it again. These whiners just will not quit until the welfare legendaries are given out by Anet with no minimum efforts required.
Just curious, has anyone taken into consideration the ammount of gameplay time done prior to even contemplaiting on getting a legendary? I mean, people play the game to get other objectives done as well, and in the mean time, if all of the basic gathering tasks are also completed this should effectively cut down the time to gather all of the prerequisite items for a legendary.
IMO, focusing on obtaining a legendary should be one of the last tasks/achievements in the game. I have a feeling that people complain about obtaining it because the bar is set wayy too high – perhaps there is a reason for that.
Do not click this link!
I agree it’s over the top, I like the idea of getting it with achivement points thats kinda cool.
To be clear though I don’t think it shouldn’t take a long time to get one but can’t you make it so you have to do something cooler and more fun more…legendary than a legendary grindfest to get one?
At the moment- Minus the precursor and the difficulty to farm Lodestones I would say they’re almost TOO easy. Then again I’m a very frequent player of GW2. All I want is them to fix the precursor issue (hey next patch apparently?!) and address the farming locations of lodestones/drop rate to be a little less brutal.
Just have one question do legendaries weapon will be never old, lets be honest we already got update there will be new stat and this stat will be already inserted in all legendaries.
So after few more update to weapons or lets say new tier weapons whit more attack resist or sth, do legendaries will be updated all the time ?
I think this is the biggest plus of having legendaries.
sorry for bad english.

Man I’m tired of all these people crying about how “tough” it is to aquire a legendary. I bet as well that it’s mostly younger age people who do it as well and your the ones that has more time play than us adult actually got a fulltime job.
333 hours of grinding for getting a LEGENDARY,(yes dude, LEGENDARY,) aint not much at all. Or maybe you want it to be common? Maybe you want to enter a dungeon and the hole group runs around with a Legendary(oh sorry, I ment common)
Can you all people who complains about the gathering for legendary please stop and whine. Or maybe you should start play WoW instead.
Hm, I wonder how many angry kids responses I will get from this thread…
Yes legendaries are over the top and they should be.
Yes legendaries are legendary grind and thats how it shoul be.
Only those who dedicate more time to playing Guild Wars than real life should have legendary.
Myself having 900 hours played I am on my way finishing my legedary (still a loooot of work) without any exploit or luck, I had to buy precursor on TP and I had to farm the gold.
If you want legendary NOW then you should start kitten playing more … 10+ hours like the rest of us
Legendary is not for everyone, its not for skilled players, is not for fans, its for the "no lifers’’ which plays GW more than anything.
Everyone can have his own legendary, its just takes time.
Stop complaining about how legendary weapons are hard to obtain, better start farming or get used to it
(edited by Dogblaster.6713)
I personally hope they keep the existing legendaries as they are with regards to getting them, I don’t have one and will not be getting one btw, hopefully keeping the prestige of these weapons.
But as they have they have said that the stats will be increasing on them I hope they make some more easily obtainable ones rather than further breaking the promise of ‘not grinding for stats’.
Farmers views will never change, they will always be right and they will always state they have skill, which in reality translates to hours played.
But there is the rub isnt it? The hours played. A farmer/boxer deserves a legendary because they have “skill and dedication” but the “average” Gamers does not deserve a legendary.
That is some target audience Anet.
Here is an easy fix for legendaries. Anet sells no ingame gold, they need to stop now. Anything for the legendaries needs a rework, example loadstones, simply pitiful. A grind isnt bad, mindless farming is. Everthing associate with any type of legendary anything needs to be bind to account, no TP, no trading to other players.
Legendaries need to be storylined, period. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out a much better way to impliment this.
Having to make tens or even hundreds of dungeon runs is simply stupid for anything let alone the legendaries. I run dungeons ONE time, why the hell would you want to go through them again except to farm? Farmer game mechanics, a bad thing.
What happened to the innovation Anet promised, this game is worse than some korean MMOs in the farming dept.
We gamers complain, yes, because you farmers feel you are entitled. You farmers feel because you play alot, which by the way require zero skill, that your “dedication” leads to great things. The only thing i feel is sad for the Gamers getting fooled by Anet. I feel sad for the developers that did not speak up during meetings when others looked on in disbelief that some things were decided with the farmer in mind.
Legendaries…That is some line of thinking you have Anet.
I could not stop laughing at this.
A legendary is for cosmetics.
If you really care about the cosmetics of the weapon, start grinding. If not, enjoy the game and carry on.
They’re not needed to play the game.
Leave them the way they are, they don’t block progress.
If it’s too hard to get one, then don’t.
Finally LEARN TO FARM, not everything needs to be purchased.

Absolutely no changes should be made regarding the difficulty of getting those legendaries. I want it to remain really rare, like 50 having it on a 10 000 populated server, as it shows their dedication, and that gives its real value.
quit ur whining twilight is cheapest compared to dawn whose lodestones are 2.7 gold n u need 100 which is basically another precursor zap collsus so on
actually its not legendary its moneydary for anet
if it gives value look at again exotic and legendary. well i guess the “LOOKS” has more value over stats. hurray

*Omg its so difficult and skill demanding to farm cursed shore events for 6 hours / day for an entire month *
cant help but have a little giggle at peoples self righteous comments acting as if they are above all the peasants in society because they have a legendary. I really do hope you are mad about how much easier legendary’s are to get as of today’s update haha.
They won’t be. Nothing has changed. If all, the Legendaries just got even harder/more costly to make.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
In my opinion, you should have around 100 hours of time into a legendary, AT LEAST…it is a LEGENDARY item….Held only by the warriors of old or crafted from the mystic recipes that were found in the most dangerous of places or using the materials of the sun, moon and other rare planets! kittenhould be hard to obtain. HOWEVER I agree with the people saying you need TOO much time and cash to obtain the Legendary item.
I would rather have it be a massive scavenger hunt and dungeon repeats than farm x gold. Or just up the ways to make gold besides being a total TP addict :P
