I am in a very active WvW guild and, as such, I enjoy having a plethora of different/classes and specs to choose from when playing WvW so I often quickly use crafting to level up new toons to 30 so I can access all the slots. My question is: to continue leveling said character, would it be better to just continue in the racial starting zone as if I was level 1(2) or do my story up to level 30 and skip to a, say, 30-40 zone?
Skip zones, little to be gained in starter areas. Personally I prefer to do 1-20 then craft 20-50. Leveling 1-20 take 7-8 hours, 10 tops. Crafting 20-50 takes 3 hours ish. Then you can do dungeons and wvw for last 30 levels.
On topic, you will get less exp if you go back to the starter areas so do your story and then stick to level appropriate areas.
Taking a crafting profession from 1-400 is guaranteed to give you 10 levels. However, raiding them aren’t (relatively) cheap. The cheapest, Cooking, took me about 1.4g.
