Levelling through crafting
If you level a craft to 1-400 you will net yourself about 10 levels actual exp. On average I would set aside 3-4g per craft that you want to take to 400. Some will be less gold some a little more. I recommend going artificer-tailor-leatherworker-armor or weapon craft- cooking last(expensive).
Good luck
This is completely accurate. However, if you pre-buy approximately what you would need, so that you won’t have to waste any time with the TP or running back and forth, you can pop a crafting XP booster. This can get you 15 levels instead of 10 per craft that you max.
I would say, if I only discovered the maximum highest difficulty items, while making items that used the lowest resources, 4 gold would probably do it on some but not all.
But if you did 4 different things, (I’d suggest Jewelry as one of them), and an XP booster, you could definitely get to level 60 off only 4 instead of needing 6.
Boosters only give you crafting xp not characte xp, which means you use less crafting mats.
The reason you may get 15 levels on the first crafting profession if your character is level 1 is due to needing less character xp for levels 1-15.
On an Engineer I have 7/8 professions to 400 using crafting boosters all the way through and I am only level 68. Thats with completing starting area, DE’s (Karma 5000+) and starting the next area.
craft from 70-80 and you should break clean at 80/400 having farmed your way to 70
crafting anything substantial sub 80 is pointless for anything other than leveling your craft

Just pay for mats like everybody else does, because we ALL know it is pretty ridiculous, that it takes MANY things to make 1 thing when trying to level crafting, and add that to some of the ridiculous drop rates, Crafting is a waste of time. I am very disappointed with the crafting system in GW2.
From my experience from level 0-400 in 2 crafts will make your char go to 1-26/28. My ele did artifcer and jeweler to 400 finished leveling at 26 and ranger did huntsman and leatherworker and hit 28. A lot depends on critical crafts/how much discovery mode. That being said outside of making things for secondary and tertiary chars crafting waa waste
Rather than make everything from scratch, figure out which parts are being dumped on the market by people who are grind-levelling. Buy and use those parts to do your experimentation, saving a substantial amount of money. Patience is necessary, though…
