So, I haven’t really experienced much of this game. I’m waiting for my buddy to get his net fixed so we can do WvW together. I’ve been doing sPvP to learn my prof while waiting, acquired some money. That being said, I read crafting is very fast to get to level 80. Curious, how so? What do I do? I have no clue about crafting on this game at all or where I’d even start. Used to just going to NPC, learn it then sit at a forge for 2 days. So yeah, I literally have no idea.

Costs 1-80? What do I craft? Where do I go? Buy stuff off TP? Xp rate roughly? Anything else would be very appreciated, thanks.

It’s a fast way, but not very fast and it will be expensive because you won’t have any mats stocked up yet.
You might want to start here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting

As for what to craft, that’s really up to you.

The armor and weaponsmithing professions are all maxed at a crafting level of 500 right now, jeweler and cooking are maxed at 400 and will be raised to 500 in a future update.
For maxing a craft at 500, your character will gain 10 levels, maxing it at 400 will gain you 7 levels. So if you max all crafts now, you will gain 74 lvls overall.

Keep in mind though that you need alot of materials for doing this and as you didnt gather any yet, you will have to buy them on the trading post.

IF you want to max all professions, it costs about 800g right now.

This website shows you the totals and has nice guides:

Cooking is the cheapest, if you max it, you get 7 lvls for 3-5g. Jeweler and Artificer cost around 11g to get from 0-400 and 7 levels each. Leveling a craft from 400-500 is very expensive atm and not feasable for your purposes.

Alright, thanks ya’ll. Perhaps it’s best I just save up and level up without crafting. I rather save my money to buy gear at 80 or craft stuff I need at 80. Thanks again.

I am not I sure I would approach it this way. Gathering mats is a grind for some, I don’t mind it but that’s just me. If you’ve been playing sPvP than you likely aren’t getting dailies done (tasks to be completed every day, look under achievement points in your hero tab) and therefore, not getting laurels which are yet another form of currency.

Farming material nodes provides experience as well as giving you the chance to craft which you will need eventually IF you decide to go after ascended weapons or armor. I bypassed the armor (though I have leathersmith to 500) but have built 4 ascended weapons. Ascended items are account bound and cannot be purchased on the trading post. You either craft for ascended or, for trinkets (rings, amulets, etc) you can use laurels. You can also pray to the RNG (random number generator) loot gods and hope that you land drops that are exotic or ascended.

You can earn your daily and monthly laurels in pvp, no problem.
