Ahoy there fellow Tyrians!

reference added thanks to Gyllisan https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guildwars2guru.com%2Ftopic%2F57320-master-list-of-crafting-materials-farms%2F

I have just been compiling lists, as I play, of some areas that are good for farming certain materials and what mobs, and ways to go about farming efficiently.

—Vial of Weak Blood
– skales to the south east of the Altar Brook Trading Post waypoint. just pull the lot of them if you are good at CC and dodge. You can get maybe 4 each pull of 8-10 skale. sometimes more. just run around the trading post in the water once slaying more skale and by the time you make a circuit the gang would have respawned.

— copper ore deposits
– the best way I found to do this, especially since there are huge amounts of low level players in the starting zones still, is to find a good cave with regular 2-4 deposits strewn about and mine them, then log to character select, then log back in (in a safe spot) and hopefully you will be in a different overflow where you can mine more deposits. if you draw a line from the altar brook trading post waypoint to the phinney ridge waypoint, there is an ettin cave about half way and to the north east. i’d mine what is there, run to the top left away from the ettins, and log. be careful tho because there is always a veteran ettin. so if you aren’t comfortable with that bugger, then find a different place.

— small venom sac
– south of cornucopian fields (or broadhollow bluffs) is a stretch of hill and trees. there are spider sacs you can squish, spiders hanging about, and fireflies. just run from one end pulling the fireflies as far as you can, use ranged to engage those farther away to come to you too. just pull as many as you can, use AoEs if you have them, and just keep at it. there is a vendor to the west kinda tucked away in a little camping ground for when you need to sell junk or clear up inventory space from all the equipment drops. I spent about 1.5 hours straight doing that and got about 65 of them.

— small totem
– there are jotun in Lornar’s Pass right due south from the renown heart for Researcher Suki at Highfirn Passage, which is about dead center of the map. I have tried other suggestions for grawl and centaur, but these jotun, and particularly this hefty cluster of them in a smaller area I have found to be the best location. Just pull 2-4 of them at a time and you should be good. Just figure out their tells and dodge.

—bags of _ (random loot bags from humanoids)
– in Diessa Plateau there is an area called Reaper’s Corridor. There is an event that triggers there often where separatists build catapults and you need to destroy them. that’s a good time to be there since there are more than 20 mobs and 3 players could handle it all. but regardless of the event, there are maybe 4 concurrent mobs there and can be easily taken down, and pretty much once one goes down, another takes its place. They drop those loot bags a lot and after getting soaked up in the action on my ranger with sword/dagger and dancing around the mobs a ton (it was rather intense), i realized that it had been about 30 minutes of it and i had over 30 bags. these give you fairly decent amount of mats.

I did all this as my guardian (minus above paragraph) using a staff (sigil of something that gives you 2 stacks of might when swapping in combat) and scepter (with sigil of bloodlust, which is really useful for fast kills) and a torch (sigil of air, which was nice too bc of the fast aoe damage from the scepter, lightning strikes would happen often), except for the jotun. I had gotten bored of the scepter/torch and switched to a sword/shield. But the staff is still the most useful weapon for PvE because of the barrier, the speed increase, and the might buff.

best thing I’d say is if you are going to farm, figure out skill set that would keep you alive in a tight spot if you accidentally pull too many, and that would allow you to easily switch between targets (often times i’ll leave ranged mobs for last if i need to use my teleport and burn skill to get away from close combat mobs).

If you have any suggestions of places, weapon choices for farming, weapon upgrade slots, or anything that you find useful for your personal farming, just let us know and give us some details so we don’t have to hound you for an explanation. If you know a good website or forum other than this that has already been compiling this information, then feel free to post and make this page redundant.

Thanks!

Been weapon smithing lately and found a pretty good run for tiny scales, tiny claws & blood. Also get some loot bags and eggs on the side.

Video

Map: Queensdale

Run: Start at Beggars Burrow and head to the pier at Beetletun. Loop back.

Mobs and Drops:
>Tiny scales drop off Barracuda, gulper fish, and drakes
>Tiny claws drop off drakes
>Eggs drop off drakes and brackish scale
>Blood drops off skale

Notes: Go underwater, bonuses are usually much higher there because people prefer not to swim. More mature mobs = better loot. Try to avoid hitting things that just spawned.

@Wanderer I didn’t know that. Thanks. I had noticed that in a few spots silver was spawning next to iron but not that it replaced it.

Best way to get Vials of Weak Blood for me is the harpy event near the Ascalonian Catacombs Dungeon. Waves of harpies will come, I can AOE them down easily as an elementalist and I net about 14-15 vials of weak blood each event, takes about 4-5 minutes.

Best place I found for gold so far is Dredgehaunt Cliffs. Every other node was gold and many of the dungeons had only gold. Several rich nodes located around the map too if you can defeat the veterans guarding them.

Tier 1 zones – copper – 1-25
Tier 2 zones – iron/silver 20-45
Tier 3 zones – iron(for steel)/gold – 35-65
Tier 4 zones – platinum – 50-70

Thanks all who contributed! The rest of the 1.5k that have viewed this thread, do you have anything to give or are you going to just mooch off of us? What ideas or experiences do you have in the gathering process? Let’s build a community that wants to see all Tyrians prosper and progress, not just a “grab what you can from those willing to share” kind.

The “log out and back in for ore” sounds like an exploit to me. Can an Anet employee comment on that specifically?

its not an exploit – thats how the system works – if your server is full you get put on another server and placed in a queue to get on your server…

if your server is NOT full then you cant log out and back on for another ore because you will not be placed on another server, you will be placed back on your server…

its not the player’s fault that their server is full and they get to mine an ore again on another server if they log out and back in

also, that ore might not even be in the same spot on another server because of random pop – it may be in another place entirely…

so, you are saying, that players who have to log out and when they log back in to another server because their own server happens to be full atm, should not be allowed to mine on the overflow server because they could be getting an ADDITIONAL mine spot to mine that they may have already mined on their own server???

you are weird…

If I don’t like it, I won’t do it.

Thanks for the great info on small mats. Im working on tailoring and i just finished farming lower level stuff. I farmed a cave just north of delavan lake, called beggars burrow its kind of hidden but its small with lots of bandits and fast respawn. They drop lots of bags and salvage stuff. Which gives you lots of variety with the lower level mats.
Also for tiny venom sacs theres a small cave/path between township of clay pool and the heartwoods that have spiders and eggs to crack which spawn more.
Also a burrow of skelks south of scaver plateau across water that drop weak vials of blood.
If anyone knows where to get more “small” (lvl 75-150) mats and especially wool scraps that would be great im a bit lost.

@Gyllisan — HAHA yeah…a friend said about facebook messages and IM’s that I don’t just write messages, I write essays. Also a friend awarded me with the longest text message he had ever gotten. I tend to write a lot. Herman Melville is my hero.
@Wombatt — I don’t think it is an exploit. I couldn’t be sure how ANet would respond to it, but it seemed a TON more legit than buying loads of cultural weapons for dirt cheap karma and doing whatever with it. I just saw it as a somewhat clever way to farm or use the system. If your connection was quick enough, theoretically you could do this for every area of farming, including logging to get quicker access to mobs than waiting for respawn.
@Method — The only way I know of getting wool scraps is from loot bags, salvage trophies, and salvaging lvl 30-45 light armor pieces. Thanks for the other information!

TO ALL —-

Try to bullet point locations and matts or whatever the subject you are going to share is so that people that come to this thread can somewhat easily see or ctrl-f what they need. I will start doing that myself. Gillysan was right that my text was too lengthy and it is difficult to garner the useful stuff.
