I’m playing around with putting dyes in the mystic forge. I’m just wondering if I put 4 dyes from the “gray” spectrum in am I more likely to get a black dye in return or are the returns completely random?

It does seem to return dyes from the same color spectrum, but since I haven’t tested this much it might just be coincidence. Thought I’d ask before I sink too much gold into the forge.

Thanks

Considering cooking dye kits are currently yielding dye colors outside the stated spectrum, I am sure it won’t work in the MF either.

the only thing the mf takes in regard is

  • item type (weapon , Armour , dye , food … etc) all 4 must be the same type ( 1 stone is accepted sometimes)
  • item rarity tier ( mastercrafted , rare , exotic … etc) all 4 must be of the same tier ( 1 stone is accepted sometimes)
  • item level tier (66-70 , 71-75 , 76-80 … etc) all levels are accepted and ( i think ) the MF regard all the items as the same level tier as the lowest level tier you use.

so in short, no the forge does not take into account what hue the color is in.

One thing I have not been able to find about the MF is if armor type matters for the outcome. I assume it works such that I need 4 cloth shoulders to get a cloth shoulder piece back, but I am not certain. If it does work that way, it does raise the question to me of what happens if I have a mix of cloth/leather/metal pieces? Does it randomly generate any armor slot/type, or does it stick to gloves for example and just random the material of the armor?
