So I finally got the Prototype Fractal Capacitor and was thinking that I only needed 500 fr and 250 ecto for my shiny backpack.. err no..

Is it true that I need to infuse it first and then make the Fractal Capacitor which means 1000 fractal relics and 500 ectos total?

u need 1850 tokens to make it ascended. You can stop here if you will never use it in fractals. (skin it or hide it).

then:
u need another 500 tokens(gift of ascension) and 250 ectos’ to make it have an infused slot for agony.

then:
u need another 500 tokens(gift of ascension) and 250 ectos’ to impress your friends.

so wait.. how do I make it ascended with 1850? I got one with 1350 fr?

it’s been a while since I made mine, but this is the general order of things:
get fractal capacitor (1350 relics)
make it ascended, and add infusion slot (500 relics + SP + mist essence)
add 5 Agony Resistance (500 relics + 250 ecto + mist essence)
make it glow in the dark (500 relics + 250 ecto + mist essence)
—it doesn’t actually illuminate a room, but you can see it in the dark.

don’t you worry – by the time you get enough relics and essences, you’ll love fractals so it won’t be a grind anymore! then you’ll find you have 30 extra ascended rings you will never use, and 4,000 relics sitting in your wallet, and 40 of each mist essences.

I actually don’t mind fractals and enjoy them most of the time. And it gives me a goal to work towards which is what keeps me interested in a game. A sense of character progression even if there is none.. but thank you. I just thought I was closer than what is needed to achieve a goal I set in mind.

And then after about 2 months of an off center backpiece you will skin it onto something that looks better…

Edit: If you use a shield it clips through ALL of them.

I am drooling over the Light of Dwayna.. it’s stunning. I am not sure about reskinning it tho.. The glow is lovely. I sort of like the off-center and I am all about symmetry. I was thinking about doing the LoD on the human mesmer I am rerolling.. eventually.

I don’t use the shield so that’s good
