I haven’t seen anyone with such offer yet; not sure if it’s because no one thought to be kind enough or i’m simply blind.

http://imageshack.us/a/img100/9896/gw111.jpg

So, the idea is quite simple – mail me your materials, write me what you want to get crafted, throw a tip in, and enjoy your new stuff.

How does it work?
1. Check what you need for the item you want on the wiki, gw2db or similar sites.
2. Mail me the materials required and add a tip; you can tip me with gold or spare materials (t5/t6 would be best).
3. If you send me not enough materials, i’ll send them back to you.
4. Please be sure not to send too many looking forward to see them back; anything exceeding the requirements will be considered the tip.
5. Please don’t tip me with 20c or 2 iron ores. Crafting isn’t ‘hard’ once it’s maxed, but it does take a while; it takes time away that could be spent otherwise in the game. I don’t want to put any ‘fee’ for the service i’m proposing, but i do expect potential interested ‘customers’ to respect my time enough and actually do send me something extra. As i said, there’s no ‘fee’ per se, so just add whatever you feel like it, but throwing in a surplus Amber Pebble or 2c is just mocking, not tipping.

How can you be sure that you won’t get scammed?
Oh, i think that’s pretty easy.
You can report people for scamming. You could send ANet a ticket with appropriate screens and link back to this very thread, wait for them to review mails and nail me with the banhammer if i wrong you.
Would i even consider risking my only account for some materials? And especially if i get something extra, anyway? Hell no!

So, i don’t expect much traffic here, but someone might be interested – and that offer is for them, not for the naysayers. If you do use my service, please provide some feedback once it’s all done

Can you make me some items for my level 20 Ele? Her name is Powerpufz

I dont even know what you would need, but if you let me know I will see if I have it, and if not, I will go get the mats or buy them.

noobdestroyer, a couple things: i dont think drkn was referring to low level gear when he started this thread. however, if you were to look up the mats on the websites he listed and send them to him (w/ a tip), he might not mind.

BUT: at level 20, you will get upgrades fairly quickly. i remember buying a green weapon off the TP while i was leveling up and being disappointed when i found a blue upgrade a few levels later. also, karma vendors have nice gear while leveling up.

drkn: i may be taking you up on this offer, mostly WS & JC. one thing though. it costs 40s to change crafts at max level, so wont you lose money when you have to swap them back and forth constantly?

Master Crafter is achievement bound which is account wide (each craft has a different achievement. Google agrees with me. So it may or may not be all on the same character.

That isn’t how it works. All the achievements are account wide from the looks of it. Even the daily you can work towards on different characters to complete it.

Having all the crafts on one character simply doesn’t make sense. As you can avoid the switching fee having them spread across 4+ other characters.

Only real reason to do it is for fast leveling. Which isn’t all that hard anyway. I still have 4 crafts on one of my toons solely for that reason. But 2 of them I intend to get on another character as they were cheap to level anyways.

I think a lot of his motivation is just about having something to do. I mean I like crafting and all and I know how to make money doing it. But making stuff just to sell on the TP seems lifeless. And it’s not really like it’s that hard to craft if you don’t have to find the materials.

I can’t understand people that say they didn’t need to farm to reach level 200 crafts. I’ve only been focusing on Armorsmith, and it has been a PAIN to keep my crafting level up to my character level. After reaching level 20 (character) I had to stop every 10 levels to go on and farm fine materials (and yes, I only farmed discovery recipes). I totally gave up at level 50 as the crafting farm was just ruining my fun.

Now some few polar bears will call me ‘yet another casual’. I’ve been through a good lot of MMOs (including asian farming ones). I’ve rarely met such a farm-requiring craft.

Ever played LOTRO ? It’s EXACTLY the same system, just WITHOUT the rare, hard to find Fine materials. You also have ore nodes (including rich nodes), you refine your ingots, etc… Want to make yourself an amor ? Just use your hammer, an anvil and some metal. No scale, teeth or whatever totem that has nothing to do with smithing needed. Now, there are mob-dropped crafting items, however they are only used in rare recipes (Which would correspond to exotic or higher for guild wars). This actually gives a role to ‘veteran’ mobs (there’s some equivalent on LOTRO). They have a chance to drop such rare item (e.g. mithril flakes in Moria).

Now don’t get me wrong – I’m not advertising for LOTRO or anything, I haven’t been on it for a while. I just miss the good, handle-able crafting.

One last note, do not think LOTRO’s craft is instant-maxed. It does require time, but it is possible and not utterly frustrating to continuously use your crafting skills to get things you need.

That was my 0.02$

@Tysefol,

I too thought this way when I was attempting to level my weaponsmith. I farmed mostly and had someone else farming for me as well (we have different professions.. I give her food, she gives me the other mats).

It worked for a while but I felt it was taking ages to level my crafting. I didn’t see any real profit in it and eventually ran out of mats that I gave up. I got my weaponsmithing to 300 and armorsmithing to 100 before level 50 I do believe. First was farming then I opted to just pay for mats which got prohibitively expensive.

I started to play the game and eventually got bored and wanted to level my craft again. I ended up buying all my mats and recipes and leveled BOTH weapon and armor to 400 in less than 5 hours… all for less than 5 gold total out of pocket (I sold all my rares as I discovered them). There’s a really simple way to do this that I found. I wasted so much time, money AND karma from the start until it “clicked” for me.

All in all it’s not hard. I even consider myself a casual player. By the time I quit crafting the first time, my roommate had surpassed me on the level front and was only getting mats that I could yet to even use.

Heck now I’m a master crafter in 2 professions and I have nothing to do with em. Mats for exotics are simply too expensive for me to craft and I don’t see squat for drops.

OH.. one thing to note… I got armor smithing to 400 WITHOUT discovering/crafting any T6 level items. I finished using just Mithril weapons. I haven’t even purchased a T6 recipe.

Hey, sorry for taking a while to reply.

@noobdestroyer:
I don’t mind crafting low level stuff, as i have all recipes available. Just please follow the rules posted in OP – check what you need for the items you want on gw2db.com or similar site and send me some spare materials as a tip!
Truth be told, though – it’s not really worth buying or crafting low lvl stuff. I’m open if you want it (for skins for example), but don’t advise it

Zak is right – i have all crafting professions maxed on different toons each (only my main is a cook/artificer), but it’s still a matter of relogging, getting to the proper crafting station, clicking everything etc. While i don’t pay for changing my craft, it does take a while – hence the tip.

@Maurier:
Yeah, crafting isn’t really worth it now – it’s much faster and usually better to just sell raw materials. There are some niches which might generate more money than selling mats, but then they take time and prior investment. Way too many sources of items, way too many people focused on crafting, way too expensive materials.

I got Master Crafter mainly because it was something to achieve in the game – in games i’m what people out there call an achievement kitten, and while i enjoy playing games just for the sake of playing for fun, i’m focused on getting achievements on the way (trophies on PS3, all kinds of badges, medals and other whatnots everywhere). Having Master Crafter out of the way, i’m now collecting minipets…

The actual usefulness, so to speak, of maxing crafts comes second for me. Apart of crafting items for myself and guildies (who don’t really craft stuff all that often as there’s rarely need to), i rarely ever visit crafting stations now.
So i thought i might take it to the public, make some use of it – after all maybe a bunch of people out of hundreds of thousands GW2 players would like to use my service. I already got into a cooperation with one person (check the twin thread on Guru) and while i’m not expecting too much traffic, maybe someone some time will want to craft something for tips – so here i am

Hey all, just noticed this thread. I had finished all my crafting the other day and all on one character. Only reason I did it was my OCD need for completion and I’ve sworn to myself I will not roll an alt in this game (horrible habit)

That being said, there are no fireworks when you hit the last combine. No title that I see. No special chest popping up to loot on achievement. Only thing I got out of it was being perpetually poor and there is little -to-no way to make a profit on the TP.

So I dunno. Not sure there’s any reason to do it all on one character though I suppose it does have its uses account-wide to level alts.

happy crafting!

Nice idea and all, but a couple problems. Firstly if you are requiring a tip, its a fee. No way around it. Either you go with “send whatever you would like” and end up happy whether its a gold or 2c, or you just put a flat out fee which is what it sounds like you are doing.

Secondly, there are a multitude of other crafters out there with the same skills, just not on one account that would gladly be willing to craft for just mats.

Third, its probably just as cheap if not cheaper to buy any potential item outright on the TP and save yourself the hassle of having to wait for it to be crafted/having a tip expected of you. If you farmed the mats yourself, sell them, buy item, profit.

@Cassium:
It’s all partially true, but life shows there are people interested in an offer like that, mostly crafting exotic jewelry and sending 10 spare bones as a tip.
As i said, i don’t expect much traffic in this ‘service’, but i’ve already had some orders and that offer stands for people who do see some sense in it. But it all really boils down to the problem that it’s much better and more profitable to be a supplier rather than a producer in this game, right now, especially that there are no ‘gathering skills’ or other investment beyond gathering tools, and there are plenty of nodes out in the world, while the demand is still pretty high.

Good idea!
As it only requires a tip it should be cheaper than the TP unless people are willingly losing money, again.
Good way to circumvent the 15% fee as well, only problem is the inbox limiting of 10 messages.

I’m online every day for a few hours or so, the limit hasn’t been an issue yet
And yeah, i’m seriously fine with any kind of tip as long as it’s not outright 2c or something similar. Just any excessive mats you might have or some spare gold.
If i’m online and can’t craft at the very moment i receive your materials (dungeoning quite a lot lately), i’ll let you know that i’m busy atm and will craft your stuff as soon as i’m available.
