I am currently a lvl 400 Jeweler and from what I can tell I have never gotten the WvW gatherer buff to proc while I was mining. I count all of my mining strikes just because I am bored while mining and I have not gotten an extra node use. My server currently has +12% gatherer and are currently upgrading to +15% gatherer and the previous week we had +10% gatherer and still no proc on any of the nodes (granted I only mine Mithril and Orichalcum). I mine hundreds of minerals a week and I wanted to know if anyone has gotten the gatherer buff to proc while mining. I have gotten it to proc while logging though, just never while mining.

Just got 4 ancient wood off a node a few seconds before the servers went down

I have no idea if it’s due to the WvW buff or just the occasional lucky swing, but there have been many times when I have received 2 bits of ore from a single swing of the pickaxe, rather than just one.

You get double items off a single swing. You don’t get extra swings. Wood and herb-gathering work the same way. The wood displays a bit differently, with the extra piece showing up on the right hand side as a distinct item. In mining, for some reason, it displays as a x2 next to the item instead. I’ve gotten tons of x2 hits on ore nodes.

I managed to get 7 hits on a rare platinum node; instead of the usual 3 +1ore. So it is in my belief that I took advantage of the bonus. Either that or it works in a different way, but definitely not dual ore per node; I only find that with Iron

I have only gotten the x2 to pop up on iron and that only popped up on iron when I was mining a rich iron node.

Unless it was two nodes parked right on top of each other, I was able to make two back-to-back mining sequences on a normal node a few weeks back.
