it only has 1 use…..make it to Empyreal Star…..which only has use for lesser/Vision Crystal for ascended armor/weapon….so what if i dont need to craft anymore…..Will we ever get more use for such a thing because i dont want to DELETE it and then find a use for it in a patch….got about 80 stacks of this on 1 toon(stopped making it to empyreal star after i maxed all crafting months ago)…..I’m running out of place to put this crap….plz anet will we ever get a use for this.
You can be pretty sure that if they introduce a new use for it, it will be timegated and not be able to be monetized. It will also have a pretty casual requirement (for your rate of acquisition), so there is no need to to hoard 80 stacks. Even if you delete them all today and tomorrow they introduce a new backpiece skin or whatever that uses empyrial shards, you will have no problem in getting the amount you need again in a very short time.
Delete them or refine them.
If another use for them is added, it’ll probably be similar to the sharpening stone station (and others like it): require 40g of other materials, use 20 empyreal stars (which require karma), and only be worth 3g.
please don’t refine them. it’s a waste of karma if you’ll never use them.
If you, like me, intend on equipping all your characters with Ascended gear one day, I highly recommend saving it or refining it. I’m actually surprised at how fast I’m burning through my stockpile when refining 1 Bloodstone Brick/Dragonite Ingot/Empyreal Star every day. I had almost two full mule characters worth of Ascended mats waiting until I finally reached 450 crafting to begin refining; I’m up to about 75 – 100 of the refined mats, and that’s not even halfway to the total amount of T7 mats I’ll need!
They need to introduce a way to convert ascended mats into another ascended mat. I have too much Bloodstone and Empyreal Shards because I run dungeons regularly but not enough Dragonite. I used to be able to get my Dragonite with a couple nights of temples, but Megaservers kind of took that from me.
Just run some WvW zergs to cap keeps and castles. Killing the champions during the cap drops Dragonite.

I was thinking about this the other day and thought it would be nice to have a npc trade us luck essences for excesses ascended mats. In that manner it wouldn’t be a shock to anything in the economy and rewards should in theory improve, which they need.

but what about people who already maxed their luck at the cost of thousands of ecto?
I don’t like the idea to turn one ascended into another – what about the majority of players with too much empyreal that also have too much of the other 2?

The second part I’m not sure what you are asking.
A few people suggest to add a merchant to convert bloodstone into dragonite or empyreal into bloodstone, etc. Personally, I have like 30 stacks each of all 3, so the ability to turn one into another would be worthless. I expect the majority of players with too much empyreal also have too much of the other 2. So don’t, sure, but enough do that that shouldn’t be the implemented solution.

Players, who have no personal use for those ascended mats, stockpile them in the hope that Anet implements a use for them in the future and they would even be happy to sell them for 1c each to a vendor.
That makes a stack of it worth 2.5 silver. A full bank tab would be worth a whopping 75 silver. I dont know about other people but my inventory is limited and i would never think about blocking a full bank tab with items worth 75 silver overall.

last time they undervalued players’ hard-earned hoarding problems, the players complained (blade shard vendor)
I do not want a direct dust/empyreal/dragonite → gold converter. even Mawdrey II is too close to that. just make more recipes that call for it. recipes that can be used repeatedly. sharpening stone station (and similar) were a good try, but someone screwed up big time with the other material requirements to make them. they would of been good (but still on the expensive side) if they took 1 deldrimor/elonian/spiritwood instead of 5.
I’d still say that 1 Deldrimor/Elonian/Spiritwood would be too expensive for the stations. :P Instead, I’d rather that it got changed to require T6 mats instead. Might be one way of improving the value of Hardened Leather (and Thick Leather, as a by-product).
