Q:
Mystic Forge Hidden Clues in the World
I was wondering about this as well. There is a mole-person in Sorrow’s Embrace story mode that mentions some kind of rifle and it got me thinking about it.
really? no one has ever found any clue?
And yes, I’m bumping an old topic. There is no sense in creating a new one since this one doesn’t have any answer on a current topic.
I think another thread that John Smith was commenting on said that there are still recipes to be found for MF so get out there and talk to every NPC that you find.
Have fun whilst you do it you never know you might find a recipe and have a niche in the market

Ever since I read that post, I’ve kept my eyes open for anything resembling a laundry list of items, and I’ve seen nothing.
Do you mean this article?
Also, by clues could they mean something similar to how the recipes for the Feathers/Wings of Dwayna require charged lodestones and Dwayna’s temple in Orr is surrounded by air elementals?
I dont mean that article no, it was a recent one on this forum sadly I cant remember which topic it was under

with the new wardrobe system, wouldn’t we be able to see skins that we have not discovered yet?
or is something that no one has discovered (but can exist in the current version of the game), not shown in the wardrobe?

This is a segment I think no player really has solid answers for.
With the item api (which is a means of accessing information on all the items in the game), items are supposed to be entered into the roster of items as they are instantiated (crafted, dropped, bought, or whatever makes an actual item in someone’s inventory). Sometimes, items are missing from the roster even though they are probably out in someone’s inventory in the game (the various cultural armors still have pieces missing). And sometimes, they’ll be in the API even though no one has ever brought one into being (lots of recipe sheets entered the API when they updated the recipe icons a few weeks back).
The skins api (same as above, but for weapons and armor skins, plus an outfit or two) pretty much mirrors the wardrobe. It also specifies skins that will not show up in the wardrobe until the player has discovered them. When there have been errors with items pointing to empty references in the skins api, those items wouldn’t unlock skins in the wardrobe for the user. This suggests the wardrobe is either strongly tied to the apis, or both are referencing a third component that actually maintains control.
But the wardrobe isn’t always correct. We saw this recently when it and the skins api displayed Belinda’s sword as an Iron Greatsword, and at that point, the only people that should have had one was Belinda and maybe ANet devs – no players. Then the item disappeared off the wardrobe and the api, but clearly it was still around, because it came back as Belinda’s Greatsword. There’s also the cases of Destroyer Staff, Reaper of Souls, and Worn Voltaic Spear, which are in the wardrobe but no player has come forward with ever owning (that’s hardly proof since forum-goers are a small percentage of players, but if there are any out there, you’d think someone would have pulled one out to brag at some point).
The point here is, be careful of the assumptions that seem obvious based upon what you can see, because there are anomalies and always the possibility of mistakes slipping through.
or is something that no one has discovered (but can exist in the current version of the game), not shown in the wardrobe?
To specifically answer this question: [&AgHXrgAA]
It fits all your criteria. Not discovered. Not in wardrobe. Can exist in the current version of the game (but does not currently exist, and likely never will).

Also, Belinda’s Greatsword used to glow because it was her greatsword and not the one we have available.
Additionally, I doubt they’ll re-use NPC dialogues. While it would improve the immersion into the game, it’s more work than just re-doing everything from the start (unless you know where to look for the dialogue).
Knew I should have waited til I got home and verified that before I posted it.
It has been hinted by the devs that there are still Mystic Forge recipes that have not yet been discovered and that there are clues out in the world to lead us in the right direction. This leads me to a few questions:
1. Have you (or someone you know) ever discovered a new recipe because of clues around the world? If so, please share!
2. What clues do you think you have discovered, but aren’t quite sure what to do about?
3. Could the karma vendor items with the silly little descriptions be part of the “clues” Anet has hinted about? They are Mystic Forge-able, after all. We have been tossing them in to convert them into sellable, salvageable items. Maybe there is a different reason they can be thrown in?

Very interesting Thread. I think i should search activly for hints in the world.
What we need is a list of recipes in the mystic forge. Including hidden ones.
The hidden ones would show “unknow” but will show the ingredients if we have them in the inventory or the bank. That way discovering mystic forge recipes it won’t be an exercise of frustration, as we’ll actually have some actual clues.

Very good idea.
If players have not discovered these ‘secret’ recipes in two years, then the effort and resources put into those item assets can pretty be considered a complete waste. Additional clues are obviously needed.
The one thing ArenaNet loves is keeping secrets from their players long after they have lost all their charm or entertainment value. There are signs this is changing but the idea of ‘secrets iz kool’ seems so ingrained in the company it will take a while to purge.
