Can we please see a dramatic change in the cost of these?

250 gems for 5 mystic forge stones makes it pointless to buy them.

I could see maybe 50 stones for 250gems or something

with 5 you cant even make more than one mystic salvage kit

A good thing you get so many from achievements.
They were well-priced before gold -> gem went above 1g/100 gems. But ever since that time, they are way overpriced.

Just to be a grammar kitten for my second language: You actually made 3 typos because none of your first three sentences began with a capital letter.

On topic: Considering that you ckittene MF stones as a placeholder for an exotic weapon when throwing 4 of them into the Mystic Forge, i would argue that 50s each is a good deal.

Has anyone ever figured out the point of double-clicking them? (Or right-click and pick ‘use’). All they seem to do is make a sound. And yeah, they’re way overpriced.

I’ve always theorized that that the mystic forge stones increase your chance at a precursor if you used it as a component. But it’s pretty expensive and inefficient to test. I did get Zap with it, though

Of all my precursors, maybe 5 have come from using mystic forge stones. That’s after using hundreds from AP Chests and what not across several accounts.

50s each would be fine, if you could choose to buy them individually instead of a package

I haven’t had any of these drop from dailies or dragon events since this last living world event went into effect.

Not sure if it’s a bug or intentional to try to get people to buy them. I’m out of mystic salvage kits now.

I’ve gotten most of mine from the Achievement chests. 5 from the regular ones, 10 from the Large, 15 from the Heavy and 25 from the Massive. I haven’t had enough drop from dailies to consider as a source. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_Chest_

That’s probably where I got most of mine too. Now that they’re all gone it’s really noticeable when they don’t drop. It would be nice if wvw had a source for them besides dailies.

Yeah. They got you there if you want mystic salvage kits or for that matter, black lion salvage kits. It’s either buy from the gem shop, wait (and wait) for the lucky drops from dailies or work your way to the next Achievement chest.

If you do key runs, the black lion salvage kits seem to average about one every 16 chests or so.

I personally dont use the MF Stones because they do not mimic the rest of the items you place in the MF, if going for PreC. I also dont use them for MF Salvage Kits because after making these and comparing the results with the Rare version (Masters Salvage Kit) from the General Merchants over hundreds of item salvages, my salvage rate for ectos, sigils, and runes was complete garbage for the MF Kit while the rare version was stellar by comparison. I don’t have the numbers anymore but i remember my results for the MF Kit salvaging ectos was an average of 1 per kit use while the Masters Salvage Kit from Merchants averaged 2 ectos per kit. I get 3 ectos on such a regular basis from salvaging rares with the Rare kit that it still amazes me.

I salvaged tens of thousands of rares and i can tell you that there is no difference between those 2 salvage kits.

I believe you 100%, Wanze. I have friends and guildies who say the same. My experience was consistently different from theirs. However, I also have friends and guildies who consistently get PreC’s and Ascended Boxed drops while i have always played the same exact content with them and have never, since launch, seen either.:( Sorry! Off-topic. I apologize.

I’m starting to run dry on these as well (note that I am not clearing zones on a regular basis like I used to so that may be part of it). I’ve started using Journeyman Kits on all Blues and below as I’m seeing my Mystic Kit supply dwindle (still have 3 in bank and enough to make 3 more).

I got one from a daily a few days ago, but it does seem I am not seeing as many of these come in as I used to. Don’t want to use the “N” word quite yet.

+1
I’ve also done a side-by-side test of 1,000 each and found that Mystic and Master are within 1% difference of each other in every way, which to me means that they have the same drops.

I always use MFS for make Mystic kits whenever I get them for free.
Though I believe it can be better to use them for precursor crafting should you want to do that:
first equation: Mystic = Master x 10 = 15s36c x 10 = 1g53s60c
second equation: Mystic = 15s36c + 8s + 2s88c + 3 MFS
second simplified: 1g53s60c = 15s36c + 8s + 2s88c + 3 MFS
second simplified more: 1g27s36c = 3 MFS
second simplified again: 42s45c = 1 MFS (when making Mystic kits, MFS are worth 42s45c)
So for them to be better to use in precursor crafting, they would have to take the place of an exotic worth more than 42s45c. Remember that this is a wildcard exotic – if you can buy any exotic for less than 42s45c, you’d be better off using that one instead.
