So I leveled few days ago my charr engineer to 80 and was looking for some unique skins for a rifle. Check few sites on the web and wiki and saw there isn’t any mystic forge recipe for rifle.
So I was wondering if players didn’t bother to discover possible recipes or they just don’t exist yet.
Right now there is
Scepter: 3
Focus: 14
Shortbow: 3
Longbow: 2
Shield: 2
Axe: 5
Sword: 5
Greatsword: 4
Hammer: 2
Spear: 1
Pistol: 2
Staff: 2
Dagger: 1
known recipes on the mystic forge (I might have some errors there in counting)
I’m sure the other ones just haven’t been discovered yet… and there are 2 known recipes for daggers, other than the Mystic Dagger. Tear of Grenth and Jormag’s Needle. But I wish that there was some skin other than just holding icicles :-(
yeah, i made one of those and they are one of the better-looking mystic weapons. they’re more classy than flashy.
if you are unaware, the mystic weapons all follow this pattern (as opposed to the other mf recipes like foefire weapons).

all weapons have a mystic skin (they are called “arcing” in the pvp locker) cuz they’re all electricky-looking.
Sadly, almost all skins (all in fact?) can be seen on gw2db. Go there and you’"ll understand : there aren’t many skins, except for focus, which is a bit strange….
Yes I know about mystic weapons. They are not so special since they look like inquest weapons. That recipe is known since start.

Ok, so after i while i just bought all types of lodestones, ectoplasm, ancient rifle frame, orichalcum rifle barrel, eldtrich scroll and coins. Tried all combinations, didn’t pop a single recipe.
So did anyone found out any UNIQUE skins (not mystic rifle) from mystic forge?
It`s really sad how some weapons get less attention. Not only talking about Rifles, same goes for Longbows, Daggers etc.
We have 2 for the Longbow, but both require a Gift, which costs enormous amounts.
And then there is the Focus……
Tell me about it. I was hoping to get more SB or LB skins but ended up trying for a GS skin, lol. Alos notice how the Focus’ recipes are simple and easy compared to others, like the Bows?
Only two classes can use Rifles (W/Eng), so there’s much less motivation to experiment than for, say, Greatswords (M/R/W/G). Also note that Engineers don’t actually have their rifle visible for a good chunk of time (spend time in kits), so remove even more motivation to spend resources looking for good skins.

To play devil’s advocate here, my main is an engineer, I use a rifle, and I hardly ever use kits, so my rifle is in front of me all the time (in case an Anet employee wants to take note of my existence.) So yes, it would be nice to have more skins available, especially since the Predator is not really my style. I’m currently rocking the Lion’s Arch donation rifle, which is nice, but options are always good.
