Mystic forge pure evil?
gamble is gamble
^ its so easy to claim when it yeilds positive results, but what ever happened to aquireing items via effort and time investment and skill and not blind luck?
easy to claim when it yeilds positive result? i have lost hundreds of gold to the forge………….. so no….. and you could always buy w/e it is you tried to get from the forge. i do not like the forge but i am also over it x.x
MF is just an excuse to pull rares/exotics out of the economy to keep their value up. Now the fact that precursors can only be obtained from them or, even rarer from lv 80 chests, is fail. Pure fail.
Hate to say this but Deathwish is only 6 gold on tp last time I checked. MF gamble is only EVER worth if you are going for precursors, and even then I personally would rather save my money
There are at the very least a couple dozen Mystic Forge recipes that always produce certain exotic weapons (with there being a couple of exceptions that have 2 outcomes). There are options for mat gathering here and more are still being discovered: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge/Other_Items
However, there are exotic weapons that are currently known to only be produced via RNG Mystic Forge like your Death Wish. In this case, you’re presented to options of gambling to obtain the weapon or saving your gold up to buy one off the TP. I am of the same opinion as DrMatt that RNG Mystic Forge is normally only worth it with the mindset of trying to obtain a legendary precursor, which you also have the option of saving up gold and buying. These alternative options to the RNG Mystic Forge may not be satisfying, but are currently the only options. Personally, I’m not a gambler, so I just stock up on gold and mats.
I’ve made about 800g from the mystic forge if you include my precursor. Used with intellegence and restraint it doesnt have to be evil. Just throwing items in at random and hoping for a lucky roll though, yes you are going to lose money.
P.S. I should mention that luck is a factor in this, but there are ways to weigh the odds more in your favour
I’ve made about 800 million dollars from the national lottery if you include my new porsche. Used with intellegence and restraint it doesnt have to be evil. Just throwing money in at random and hoping for a lucky roll though, yes you are going to lose money.
^Did I understand that right? What non-random mystic forge recipes couldn’t be implemented in normal crafting? None. That’s what. But that would require a player work to improve their crafting first. We don’t want that.
Mystic forge recipies are not random, rather there is a limited range of results from a given combine. There is another post on this page where someone lays out the rules the MF follows in great detail, enough so that anyone who wished to apply themselves could understand those rules and make a profit. (Although in my case I should actually apply myself more to learning the rules of spelling I suspect)
Back on topic – OP is saying the threw in 50G worth of materials in order to make a 6G item…..BOGGLE
Look I’m not saying that RNG crafting is great but if someone walked into a poker game without knowing how to play, threw $1000 on the table, lost it all and then complained….would you have any sympathy?
+1 to morphemass
MF is a gamble for precursors, i obtained my precursor only after having thrown in 1600 rares and about 100 exotics.. Persistence is persistence..
BUT as morphemass pointed out, there is a thread on the page
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Enough-with-the-RNG-WRT-Precursors/first#post641534
Where it clearly explains how one can turn the RNG from MF into profit.
And as previously stated, there are numerous ‘fixed’ MF recipies, which give out items with pretty awesome skins..
Pre-cursors aren’t ONLY blind-luck (granted some people have been extremely lucky and only required a few tries) it is persistence AND a little luck.
